SMD Quasar WROV Dives 5.7km Deep

Soil Machine Dynamics (SMD) announces that a deep-sea Quasar Work Class Remotely Operated Vehicle (WROV) has successfully completed sea trials.The 6000-meters-rated WROV, complemented with an electric drive dual-purpose winch and launch and recovery system (LARS), reached the seabed at 5,760 meters during the trials.The complete turnkey solution was recently delivered to Shanghai Salvage and has undergone extensive testing at various depths. The system was supplied with interchangeable winch drums which can be changed out on deck to achieve operational service at depths up to 3000m or 6000m when required.By making use of electric motors powered via a Low Harmonic Variable Speed Drive application…

ZPMC Orders Romica Equipment for DSV

Romica Engineering Ltd (REL) has signed a contract with Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. (ZPMC) to provide a triple drum winch and tooling deployment A-Frame system. This will support the overboard deployment and recovery of diver tools supporting subsea work. The equipment will be fitted on the current diver support vessel in build for Sealion Shipping Ltd, on behalf of Toisa Ltd, this DP3 Multi-Purpose Saturation Diving Support/Offshore Construction Vessel (DSV/OCV) demonstrates Toisa’s continuing commitment to the future of front-rank Saturation Diving/Construction vessels.

VT Halter Marine Orders Markey Winch

Markey Machinery Company, Inc. has received an order to supply VT Halter Marine, Inc. with one General Purpose Winch. When delivered in 2009, Halter plans to install the DEPC-7 on National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) coastal mapping vessel R/V Ferdinand R. Hassler, currently under construction. The Markey type DEPC-7 winch is custom designed by Markey engineers to meet NOAA’s statement of requirements. NOAA’s requirements include independent certification of the winch’s design by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). NOAA’s R/V Ferdinand R. Hassler- a 124-foot small waterplane area twin hulled (SWATH-type) craft, is named after a founder of one of NOAA's forerunner agencies.
