44% increase on 2010 figures reported
During attendance at this weekend’s Coaltrans Asia 2011, world-leading maritime services provider Wilhelmsen Ships Service has reported a significant increase in the sales of its Cargo Hold Cleaning (CHC) Kits in Asia.
Jan Fredrik Bjorge, Product Marketing Manager for Cleaning and Application Equipment at Wilhelmsen Ships Service said: “Sales of Unitor Cargo Hold Cleaning Kits in Asia have increased by a fantastic 44 % in the first four months of this year compared with same period in 2010.”
Wilhelmsen Ships Service offers a choice of kits, equipment and accessories for efficient cargo hold cleaning, which negate the use of scaffolding and other climbing or lifting equipment. They also offer a consultancy service run by highly trained marine professionals whom advise on safe cargo-hold cleaning operations.
Mr Bjorge continues; “Wilhelmsen Ships Service focuses on improving turnaround time and overall operational efficiency in bulk handling ports around the world. The functionality of the Unitor CHC helps to speed up the changeover from dirty to clean cargoes, meaning less time in port and improved cost efficiencies.”
Unitor CHC Kits include:
* Handymax cargo cleaning kit: a complete solution for small to medium bulk carriers;
* Panamax light cargo hold cleaning kit: a reduced kit without the Tonado 3 cleaning jet and relevant hoses;
* Panamax cargo hold cleaning Kit: a full kit for medium to large bulk carriers.
Unitor CHC kits have been adapted to fit bulk ships, enabling cleaning of cargo holds quickly and safely with the range of chemicals optimized for cargo hold cleaning and differing cargo types such as Petcoke or cement. WSS also offers temporary cargo barriers which prevent cargo from sticking to the surface.
The boost in CHC Kit sales is part of a growing trend of increased business in Asia for Wilhelmsen Ships Service, which has steadily expanded its geographical coverage in the area over recent years. The company has a growing market share in ships’ agency services, with the implementation of its one-point-of-contact Ships Agency Re-Defined (SARD) offer.
