Caleb Wilson leads No. 18 UNC over Navy

Posted to Maritime Reporter on November 18, 2025

Caleb Wilson led the No. The 18th-ranked North Carolina won 73 61 against Navy in Chapel Hill on Tuesday.

Jarri Stevenson scored 11 points and Henri Veesaar had 10 for the Tar Heels (5-1) who finished a five game homestand at the start of the season.

Wilson, a rookie forward, reached 20 points in four games during this season. He was 9-for-13 on the field.

Austin Benigni, who scored 11 points for Navy (2-4), shot 6 of 21 from the 3-point line. Jinwoo Kim scored 14 points but combined with Benigni, they only made 10 of 37 field shots as the Midshipmen managed to shoot just 30.4%.

Navy only committed six turnovers, compared with North Carolina's thirteen. The Tar Heels had a 45-38 advantage in rebounding, but their hot streak of early shooting waned. They ended up with a 42.9% field goal percentage.

Bogavac scored three of North Carolina’s eight 3-point baskets. Navy's first three games against Division I teams averaged 10 points less than the Navy team scored.

Wilson sped up the game when Navy was trailing 39-31 in the second quarter. He dunked two times and made a pair of free throws to complete the three-point play, as part the Tar Heels 8-0 run. The Midshipmen then called a timeout.

The Tar Heels continued to maintain their momentum with a 19-5 run in their favor.

Benigni's two 3-pointers and two free-throws in less than two minute allowed Navy to gain 68-59, with only two minutes left. Stevenson's three-pointer, however, gave the Tar Heels another double-digit advantage.

North Carolina was leading 38-31 at the halftime break, thanks to Bogavac’s 12 points. Bogavac also made both his 3-point attempts. Navy held a 14-12 advantage in points scored in the paint in the first half, despite the Tar Heels holding a 12-point edge earlier.
