Posted to Maritime Reporter on June 17, 2025

China and Central Asian nations are willing to improve road, rail, and air connectivity. They will also look to increase direct flights from and to China, as they agree to enhance their exchanges.

China said it would simplify visa procedures for the five Central Asian nations, while all parties will examine the feasibility of opening consular office.

China, along with Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan will also accelerate modernisation of existing ports and examine the need for new port facilities.

The Chinese President Xi Jinping has signed a treaty on Tuesday to strengthen ties with Central Asian countries. Beijing is looking to deepen its cooperation with this resource-rich area in the areas of trade, energy, and infrastructure. Reporting by Liz Lee, Shanghai newsroom
