Hapag-Lloyd CEO: Trade truce between U.S. and China gives Hapag-Lloyd a boost
Hapag-Lloyd's CEO Rolf Habben Jansen said on Wednesday that the company is experiencing a higher demand this week for freight traffic between China and the United States, following the detente reached in the trade dispute between the two countries.
Habben Jansen, when asked about Washington and Beijing’s tariff truce, announced earlier this week by Habben Jansen, said: "I expect there to be more volume between China and the U.S. This is what we've already seen in the past few days."
He added that it remains to be determined how long the process will take, and whether or not demand will increase.
According to the CEO, the German shipping company has seen a 50% week-on-week increase in bookings of U.S. China traffic in the first couple days of the week.
