Iran's SLAL bids for 60,000 T of corn and soybean meal
European traders reported on Wednesday that the Iranian state-owned animal food importer SLAL had issued international tenders for up to 60,000 metric tonnes of animal feed corn, and 60,000 metrictons of soymeal.
They said that the deadline for submitting price offers was also Wednesday, 9 July.
SLAL also released a separate bid on Tuesday for 120,000 tonnes of feed barley, which will close on Wednesday.
The grain tenders this week are the first to be issued after the recent conflict between Iran and Israel and the U.S.
The shipment of both corn and soybean meal is expected in July and August.
Corn can be purchased from Brazil, Europe or other countries in the Black Sea Region.
Soymeal is only available in Brazil and Argentina.
Traders said that the Western sanctions on Iran had caused payment problems for Iranian companies, which made it difficult to participate in recent Iranian tenders.
The West has not sanctioned food in Iran because of its nuclear program, but the sanctions have affected Iran's financial sector, causing complex and irregular payment arrangements.
Traders reported that Iran offered payment for all new tenders through two banks: one in Iraq, and another in Turkey. (Reporting and editing by Jan Harvey; Michael Hogan)
