Jordan purchases about 60,000 metric tonnes feed barley at tender, traders claim

Posted to Maritime Reporter on August 27, 2025

European traders reported that Jordan's state grain purchaser purchased 60,000 metric tonnes of animal feed barley from optional origins on Wednesday in a global tender that sought up to 120,000 metric tons.

The trading house Olam was reported to have purchased the product at a cost and freight included of $264.25 per ton. It is expected to be shipped during the first half November.

They said that Ameropa, Bunge and other trading houses were also participating in the tender. Ameropa offered a price $273 per ton C&F while Bunge offered $269 per ton C&F. The traders initially reported two participants.

Jordan is likely to issue a new tender for feed barley in the coming days, with a deadline of September 3 traders have said.

The new tender will likely seek to ship in October and November for the entire month, just as the previous tender did.

Jordan also published a tender on Wednesday for up to 120,000 tonnes of milling grain that will close on September 2.

The reports reflect the assessments of traders, and further estimates on prices and volume are possible later. (Reporting and editing by Tomaszjanowski)
