Jordan purchases about 60,000 tonnes of feed barley at tender, traders claim
European traders reported that Jordan's state grain purchaser purchased 60,000 metric tonnes of animal feed barley from optional origins on Wednesday in an international bid seeking up to 120,00 tons.
The trading house Cargill was reported to have purchased the grain at a cost and freight included of $261.25 per ton. It is expected to be shipped during the first half December.
The reports reflect the opinions of traders, and it is still possible to estimate prices and volume later.
Two other trading companies also participated in the tender on Wednesday, with their estimated prices per ton C&F: Al Dahra $254 and Dreyfus $270.
Jordan will issue a tender in the coming days for 120,000 tonnes of feed barley, with a deadline set at September 24.
The new tender will likely seek to ship in full November and December, just as the Wednesday tender did.
Jordan also released a tender on Wednesday for up to 120,000 tonnes of milling grain. The tender will close on the 22nd September. (Reporting and editing by Kirby Donovan, with Michael Hogan)
