Regional authorities in Russia's Krasnodar Region said that a Ukrainian drone attack damaged two vessels and two piers, as well as causing a fire, on the Black Sea Coast.

The Krasnodar operational headquarters announced on the Telegram app that all crew members on board the ships docked at the Volna terminal on the Black Sea had been'safely evacuated.

Authorities reported that the fire spread to up to 1,500 sq. m. The fire was still burning at 0200 GMT.

Ukraine has targeted the Krasnodar area with drones. These include refineries, fuel depots and ports, as well as airfields. The Black Sea region is crucial for Russia's military and energy logistics. It borders Crimea, and lies within the drone range of southern Ukraine.

Volna, the village in Crimea, is located near the Kerch Strait bridge, which connects the mainland with the Crimean Peninsula, annexed by Russia in 2014. (Reporting and editing by Christian Schmollinger, Michael Perry, and Lidia Kelly from Melbourne)
