Pakistani traders claim that the country has bid to purchase 200,000 metric tonnes of sugar
The Trading Corporation of Pakistan, a state-owned agency in Pakistan, has announced a new international bid to buy 200,000 metric tonnes of white refined sugar.
The deadline to submit price offers is August 21, 2018.
European traders reported on Wednesday that the TCP was believed to have bought about 55,000 tonnes of white sugar during a previous tender for up to 100,000 tons, which ended this week.
Pakistan has approved plans to import 500 tons of sugar in order to maintain the price stability following a sharp rise in retail sugar prices.
TCP is seeking price quotes for sugar of all grades, including fine, small, and medium. All must arrive in Pakistan before October 31. Michael Hogan reports.
