Port fires sparked by Russian attack in Odesa, Ukraine

Posted to Maritime Reporter on November 17, 2025

Emergency services reported on Monday that a Russian attack in Ukraine's southern region Odesa caused fires to spread at ports and energy infrastructure.

Oleksii Kulba, the Deputy Prime Minister of Restoration for Telegram, wrote that the attack had damaged port equipment as well as several civilian vessels docked on berths.

He said that "specialists are working to restore the power" in one of the ports.

DTEK, Ukraine's private electricity firm, said that the attack in the region had cut off power to 36.500 households. As of this morning, about 32,500 households were still without electricity.

DTEK posted a message on Telegram describing the damage done to their facilities as a result of the attack. (Reporting and editing by Anastasiia Mlenko, Himani Sarkar, and Alex Richardson).
