Powerboat racing: DJ Aoki's Team wins in Dubrovnik, while Lebron takes the first E1 podium
The electric raceboat team of DJ Steve Aoki won the Adriatic at the weekend. It was their second victory this season, and they surpassed Rafa's outfit to take the E1 Championship standings.
Aoki Racing Team 2025 has added former Formula 1 test driver Dani Clos to its team. Team Brady secured second place, while NBA star LeBron James celebrated his first podium with Team AlUla, in third.
The Croatian victory was celebrated against the historic walls of Dubrovnik, where thousands of spectators gathered to witness the debut of Croatia on the UIM E1 World Championship Calendar, the series dedicated exclusively to electric powerboat racing.
The results intensified rivalry between Aoki and Nadal, whose team could only finish fourth despite having qualified strongly. Both teams are dominant in the 2025 championship as they compete for the "Champions of the Water", which will be decided in Miami, in November.
The mid-season championship of the Championship, featuring teams owned by celebrities such as actor Will Smith, former footballer Didier Dobba and others, will now be held in Italy at Lake Maggiore, late June.
The E1 World Championship, sanctioned by the global powerboating governing body Union Internationale Motonautique(UIM), is the first raceboat series that is all-electric. It is intended to speed up innovation in sustainable marine technologies and coastal conservation.
