Saudi Arabia purchases 455,000 tons wheat through a tender
The General Food Security Authority of Saudi Arabia (GFSA) announced on Monday that the country purchased 455,000 metric tonnes of wheat at an international tender in December and early January.
In a press release, Ahmad Al-Fares, CEO of GFSA, said that the average price paid per ton for wheat, including cost and freight, was $263.38.
GFSA stated that the origins available were Europe, the Black Sea region, North America (North America), South America (South America) and Australia. The sellers could choose the origin they wanted.
The purchase included hard milling grain with a 12.5% protein content.
The tender, which closed on Friday, indicated that GFSA was looking for 420,000 tonnes.
The traders said that they expect the wheat to mainly come from Russia and Black Sea countries.
In May, GFSA purchased 621,000 tonnes of wheat for delivery between August and October.
The GFSA announced that the following cargoes had been purchased in dollars per ton C&F. It also specified the trading houses who made the sales, as well as the ports in Saudi Arabia and the arrival dates.
Jeddah Sea Port : - Solaris 65,000 tons at $263.36 C&F (from 1 Dec. 2025 to 15 Jan. 2026). - Bunge 65,000 tonnes at $262.86 C&F.
Yanbu Sea Port : - 65 000 tons from Solaris for $263.36 C&F (1-15 Dec.2025)- 65 000 tons from Cargill for $262.79 C&F (31 Dec.2025-15)- 65 000 tons from Bunge for $263.86 C&F-1-15 Jan.2026
Dammam Sea Port : - Cargill 65,000 tonnes at $265.39 C&F (from 1 Dec. 2025 to 15 Jan. 2026). - Cargill 65,000 tons at $264.11 C&F.
