Separate incidents of US Navy helicopter and fighter jet crashes in South China Sea
The U.S. Navy reported that a U.S. Navy fighter jet and helicopter both crashed into the South China Sea in the same hour, during routine operations from the same aircraft carriers on Sunday. All personnel were unharmed.
The incidents occurred while President Donald Trump visited Asia.

In a message on X the U.S. Pacific Fleet said that "all personnel involved is safe and stable." Both incidents are currently being investigated.
The aircraft carrier USS Nimitz was not disclosed, but both the helicopters and the jets were performing routine operations from the USS Nimitz.
Guo Jiakun, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said at a Monday press conference that the ministry had offered the United States humanitarian assistance after the crashes.
The Navy reported that a Sea Hawk helicopter crashed at 2:45 pm on Sunday, and shortly thereafter, a F/A-18F Super Hornet jet fighter also crashed into the South China Sea.
Trump will be heading to Tokyo on Wednesday and conclude his trip with a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
