Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corporation, a state-owned company in South Korea, has announced international tenders for the purchase of 45,200 metric tonnes of rice from Vietnam and Thailand.

The deadline to submit price proposals in the tender is 8 August.

The main focus of the tender is non-glutinous milled rice, with approximately 30,000 tonnes coming from Vietnam and Thailand.

A series of consignments is expected to arrive in South Korea between November 2025 - June 2026. The corporation buys rice in advance for long-term delivery.

Traders said that the results of the tender might not be known until a few weeks after submission of prices. Traders said that the corporation requires rice samples be sent to Korea to be analyzed before making a decision. Michael Hogan reports.
