South Korean firms seek LNG cargo for June delivery

Posted to Maritime Reporter on April 28, 2025

South Korean companies Korea Midland Power Co. (KOMIPO), Korea Southern Power Co. (KOSPO), and SK subsidiary PRISM Energy International, have released a tender to purchase one liquefied gas (LNG). The cargo is due for delivery in the month of June.

According to an invitation for tenders issued by KOMIPO (which is leading the process), the buyers want 3-3.6 trillion British Thermal Units (Btu) on a JKM linked and delivered ex ship (DES) basis.

The cargo will be delivered to one of Kogas' terminals located in Incheon (Korea), Pyeongtaek (South Korea), Tongyeong (South Korea) and Samcheok on June 12 or 23.

The JKM (Japan-Korea Marker) is the benchmark price for LNG spot physical cargoes across Asia.

KOMIPO, PRISM Energy International and KOSPO are each to receive 950,000 million British Thermal Units (mmBtu), while the remainder of the gas will be delivered to KOSPO.

The bid will close on 7th May.
