Initial assessments by traders indicated that the lowest price offered during the first round of tendering from Turkey's TMO state grain board to purchase and import 225,000 metric tons animal feed barley was $234.90 per ton c&f.

They said that no purchase had yet been reported, but they expect to release preliminary results later on Thursday. TMO has a tradition of negotiating in several rounds for tenders, aiming to get lower offers at each round.

Trading house Danem was reported to have made the lowest offer for a consignment of 25,000 tons to be shipped to Iskenderun.

The reports reflect the assessments of traders, and it is still possible to estimate prices and volume later. Michael Hogan is reporting.
