Turkey will buy 255,000 tonnes of feed barley from traders, they say
European traders reported on Tuesday that the Turkish state grain board TMO had issued an international tender for the purchase and import of about 255,000 tons of animal feed barley.
The deadline to submit price offers for the tender is 30 September.
Barley will be shipped between October 9th and November 7th in batches of 10,000-25,000 tons.
Traders said that supplies already imported into Turkey and stored in warehouses custom-bonded can be offered.
The Turkish ports of Iskenderun (Iskenderun), Mersin (Izmir), Bandirma (Tekirdag), Samsun (Trabzon), and Giresun should receive the shipment.
The traders say that the barley harvest in Turkey was lower than expected this year. This has led to a demand for imports, which will stabilize prices and provide sufficient supplies. Reporting by Michael Hogan from Hamburg and Gus Trompiz from Paris. Mark Potter is the editor.
