Austal USA announces the promotion of Craig Perciavalle to President, Austal USA. Mr. Perciavalle is currently serving as Senior Vice President of Operations. Austal USA Breaks Ground On Three New Facilities
Austal USA held a combined groundbreaking ceremony today, to celebrate the start of work on three new facilities including Phase 2 of the Modular Manufacturing Facility (MMF); a new office complex; and an additional waterfront Assembly Bay. The ceremony was held at Austal USA’s shipyard in Mobile, Alabama, where construction is underway on the U.S. Navy’s Independence-class Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) program and the Joint High Speed Vessel (JHSV) program.

Austal USA received two awards from the Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA) for commitment to improving safety and health in the workplace. Austal USA celebrated the delivery of its sixth vessel on August 6, 2003. This 143ft passenger catamaran left Austal’s yard in Mobile, Alabama, on her way to Circle Line-Statue of Liberty Ferry, Inc. (Circle Line) in New York City. The New York-based company transports thousands of passengers to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island each day. “Zephyr” is Circle Line’s first aluminum high speed vessel, and the second Austal USA has delivered to the New York area in the last three months.

Austal USA Launches 192-ft. Ferry
On March 20, Austal USA launched its seventh and largest vessel to date. Lake Express, a 192 ft. high-speed vehicle-passenger ferry rolled out of Austal’s purpose-built aluminum shipbuilding facility in Mobile, Ala., and into the Mobile River. “This project is a further step in building up capacity and capability at Austal USA which will stabilize our efforts to be a major contender in larger contracts in both the commercial and military markets,” said Austal USA CEO, Greg Metcalf.
Austal USA to be Contracted for Littoral Combat Ship
The U.S. Navy has awarded a team that includes Austal USA, a $79 million contract to develop a final design for the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), along with options to build two ships. Total contract value including both shipbuilding options is $536 million.
