Damen Builds Cable Installer For Maersk Supply Service
A newbuild DP2 cable installation vessel, Maersk Connector, was handed over from Damen Shipyards Group to Maersk Supply Service on February 4, 2016, and now goes directly on a long-term charter for subsea services provider DeepOcean. Built at Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania, Maersk Connector is the second of a new generation of cable-laying vessels based on the Damen Offshore Carrier (DOC) 8500 platform, customized to meet the challenges of reducing offshore renewables costs, the builder said.

Briggs Marine Orders Damen Multi Cat 2712
Briggs Marine and Environmental Services, the Fife, Scotland-based leading supplier of offshore services, has ordered a Damen Multi Cat 2712. One of the largest models in Damen’s extensive Multi Cat range, the 27-metre 2712 is a versatile workboat capable of taking on almost any role in the coastal environment. Designated the Forth Warrior, the new Multi Cat is currently being fitted out at Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld in the Netherlands.
Damen TSHD Launched at Krasnoye Sormove Shipyard
A Damen Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) 1000 was launched at the Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard on January 29. The TSHD, named Sommers, is the lead vessel of a series of three TSHDs 1000 being built for Rosmorport. The TSHDs are scheduled for delivery this year, the contract between Rosmorport and Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard having been signed in April 2014. Keel laying of the Sommers was held in November 2014. The other two dredgers are to be named Kronshlot and Kadosh respectively.
Damen Takes on Six Viking River Cruises Vessel Jobs
Damen Shiprepair Amsterdam (DSAm) reports that it is currently working on a modification and maintenance contract for six inland cruise vessels owned by Viking River Cruises. With this winter service complete, all six vessels – known as longships – will be ready for the coming river cruise season. The Viking Idi was the first of the six to arrive at the yard in late December 2015. Sister ships Viking Idun, Viking Kvasir, Viking Kara, Viking Hlin and Viking Gullveig will follow consecutively.

Damen Reports Dredger Success
2015 was very successful for Damen’s Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD) range, the builder said. Throughout the year, 12 CSDs were sold and delivered to clients around the world. Most of the deliveries were stock built vessels, a number of which were being built on speculation when an order was placed for them prior to completion. A feature of standardized Damen vessels is that, though built in series, they can be customized with standard options to meet individual client requirements.

Rimorchiatori Riuniti Orders Damen ASD Tugs
Italian tug operator Rimorchiatori Riuniti has recently placed an order with the Damen Shipyards Group for two ASD Tugs 2913. Rimorchiatori Riuniti operates more than 100 vessels across a range of maritime sectors, including harbor towage and offshore. Amongst the company’s fleet are a number of Damen vessels. The most recent Damen vessel to join the Rimorchiatori Riuniti fleet was an ASD Tug 2411, delivered to the client in September 2014.
Damen Unveils Next Generation RHIB
At this year’s Europort event in Rotterdam, the Damen Shipyards Group unveiled the latest addition to its portfolio: the RHIB 1050, a 10.5 x 3.35 meter multimission vessel designed to serve as an independent platform or as support for a larger patrol vessel. The RHIB 1050 was developed at Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld – no stranger to such vessels having provided numerous examples to the Royal Netherlands Navy over the years, the shipbuilder noted.

It also offers trade-in terms for owners looking to buy a new Damen vessel. Damen Trading specializes in tugs and workboats with a global network consisting of ship owners, ship operators and co-brokers.
Royal Moroccan Navy Turns to Damen for First Tug
The Royal Moroccan Navy has taken delivery of a Damen Stan Tug 2208. The 22-meter long vessel, named Al Mounkid, is the first tug to join Morocco’s sizeable naval fleet. The Royal Moroccan Navy has a fleet consisting of frigates, offshore patrol vessels, training vessels and hydrographic, amphibious and auxiliary vessels. Its fleet, however, did not include a tug of any sort. In the past, Morocco’s Navy has turned to third party tug operators for towing, moving and mooring services.
