Vestdavit secured an order to supply three new Norwegian Coast Guard vessels with davits equipped for polar conditions, in a project which also calls for installation of a deck-mounted transfer system for rapid deployment.The ships are being built by Vard Group within the P6615 project to replace Nordkapp-class ships with a new generation of search-and-rescue, surveillance, and oil recovery vessels.

Vestdavit Opens US Office
Facing “sustained positive trend in North American business levels” Bergen-based supplier of davits and other boat launching equipment Vestdavit said it is opening an office in Seattle. According to the company, direct representation will help it build on its existing strong regional reputation. Its davits are already widely used by the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Coast Guard, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and in the offshore oil industry among others.

Vestdavit Launches Multi-boat Handling System

Vestdavit Appoints U.K. Director of Operations
Norway-based boat handling system and specialized davit supplier Vestdavit has appointed Andy James as Director of Operations for the U.K. Andy James served 25 years in the Royal Navy as an engineer, including working ashore as a workshop manager in a shipyard and as a project manager for new equipment. Vestdavit Contracted by USCG for Nine Davits
Vestdavit has won its first contract with the U.S. Coast Guard. After an extensive tender process with many contenders, Vestdavit was chosen to supply nine PLA-2000 davits, the company said. This is a two-ton SWL davit for launching and retrieving small boats up to sea state three. The davit will be skid mounted for easy installation on board the Coast Guard’s class of Ice Breaking Tugs.
