Sulzer Acquires License for Total’s Wash Tank Technology
Sulzer’s Chemtech division has been granted a license covering the Total-patented Wash Tank Technology for Oil Processing. The main purpose of this technology is to enhance the removal of water, salt and contaminants from oil and emulsions, by a controlled distribution of the feed into the bottom of a hull tank of an FPSO/FSO/FPU which transforms the water-in-oil dispersion into an oil-in-water one where high efficiency phase separation takes place more easily.
BMT Debuts VENARI-85 MCM Concept Design
BMT has launched VENARI-85, a new mine countermeasure (MCM) concept design said it be capable of clearing mines faster over a greater area and with less risk to the crew, while simultaneously providing broader utility to navies around the world. According to BMT, VENARI-85 offers a flexible platform that is capable of a spectrum of roles which is future-proofed and able to evolve as technology advances in the unmanned and offboard systems markets take shape.
New Dredgers Delivered in Bangladesh
Following various dredgers recently delivered in Bangladesh, and the Damen Dredging Seminar held last month in Dhaka where her Excellency Leoni Cuelenaere, the Dutch Ambassador to Bangladesh was the honorable Chief guest, Damen said it has again delivered multiple dredgers from available stock. Regional Sales Director Rabien Bahadoer said, “Damen has again confirmed its long-term commitment to Bangladesh by delivering quality dredgers with a proven design from ready stock.
Thun Tankers Orders another Newbuild
Thun Tankers said it has declared an option for a fifth tanker to be added to the previously contracted four 17,500 dwt IMO II product/chemical tankers on order at Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding Ltd in China. The sister ships are due for delivery between April 2019 and January 2020 and will be commercially managed by Furetank, responsible for the intermediate segment within the Gothia Tanker Alliance.
Arctech Helsinki Shipyard Awards Contract to MELCAL
MELCAL said it has received a new contract from Arctech Helsinki Shipyard for the design and production of two ATEX Zone 1, IIB T3 cranes to be installed onboard an icebreaking arctic tanker. The hose handling cranes will feature heated cabins and are designed to handle both cargo hoses and bunker fuel hoses, as well as provisions and engine spares. In man-riding mode, the cranes are also suitable for safe lifting of personnel.
