Maersk CEO Appointed to UN Advisory
Morten Engelstoft, CEO of Services and Other Shipping, said CO2 issues will be on his agenda as a newly appointed member of a UN High-level Advisory Group for Sustainable Transport. The cause to champion CO2 reduction in shipping has been given a boost from a Maersk Group perspective. Morten Engelstoft, CEO of Services and Other Shipping, has recently been appointed by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as a member of a High-Level Advisory Group on Sustainable Transport.

Alaska Class Ferries to Be Built in Ketchikan

Construction Begins on Chouest’s B-Port

Australia, New Zealand Navies Intercepts Drugs off Africa
A combined Australian and New Zealand operation 260 km off the coast of Africa has seized more than 5.6 metric tons of cannabis resin worth an estimated $280 million (AUD). The five day operation involved Royal Australian Navy frigate HMAS Toowoomba and a Royal New Zealand Air Force P-3K2 Orion which was called to assist in bad weather. During an exhaustive search this week, the Australian boarding party discovered cannabis resin in hessian bags stowed in a hidden compartment on the dhow.

Tregurtha was refloated by The Great Lakes Towing Company Tugs Kentucky and Minnesota under the command of two Duluth veteran Towing Company Captains, Martin Lightner and George LaTour, on Saturday evening, September 20, after the loaded vessel went aground at approximately 3:15 p.m. in Duluth, Minnesota Saturday afternoon. Damen Delivers Tug to Bremenports
Bremenports, the management company for the twin German ports of Bremen and Bremenhaven, took delivery of its first Damen-built vessel – a Stan Tug (Stu) 1606. Built to a proven design and delivered on time, the tug, named Albatros, will be mobilized primarily in assisting maintenance dredging works at the ports. The 16.76 meter Stu 1606 will assist Bremenports’ own bucket dredger in maintenance dredging works at the two ports in northern Germany.
