MARAD to Host National Maritime Strategy Symposium
On Tuesday, May 6, at 9 a.m. EDT, the Maritime Administration and the Marine Transportation System National Advisory Council will host the second National Maritime Strategy Symposium in Washington, D.C. Building upon the first Symposium held in January, this public meeting will focus on domestic U.S. maritime issues, including ports, shipping, shipyards, environmental compliance and maritime energy use, and labor and workforce development.

Rolls-Royce won an order to provide an integrated design and equipment package for two offshore supply vessels to be built at COSCO (Guangdong) Shipyard Co., Ltd in China for Singapore based Chellsea Group. The two Rolls-Royce UT 771 WP platform supply vessels features the striking wave piercing bow designed to pierce through waves in rough seas, making it possible to keep a more constant speed, reduce fuel consumption and increase on board safety.

ABS Wins Petronas FLNG Classification Contract
ABS, a provider of classification and technical services to the global offshore industry, has been awarded the classification contract from Petronas, Malaysia's national oil company, for the company's second floating LNG facility (PFLNG 2). The vessel will be built at the Samsung Heavy Industries yard in Geoje, Korea. "This is a very significant award for us," said ABS Chairman and CEO Christopher J. Wiernicki.
