Video: USCG Medevacs Man from Cruise Ship
The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) said it medevaced a 66-year-old man Wednesday from a cruise ship approximately 50 miles east of Wilmington, N.C. after receiving reports that the man was in medical distress. Personnel aboard the 950-foot cruise ship Carnival Splendor notified watchstanders at the Fifth District Command Center of the man’s condition at approximately 10:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Huisman, the worldwide specialist in lifting, drilling and subsea solutions, has received a Letter of Intent for the delivery of world’s largest cranes onboardHeerema’s planned new semi-submersible crane vessel.The cranes will have a lifting capacity of 10.000mt at a radius of 48m. Huisman is known for its signature mast crane design. These cranes will however be tub mounted. The two cranes will be built by the Huisman production facility in China.

Wärtsilä’s VIEC Ordered in Three North Sea Oilfields
Wärtsilä has signed three contracts with Aker Midsund of Norway to deliver its Vessel Internal Electrostatic Coalescer (VIEC) systems for three North Sea oilfields. The system enhances the speed and efficiency of the separation process of oil and water onboard in an environmentally safe manner. The contracts were signed in the fourth quarter of 2013. The systems are scheduled to be delivered between April and August 2014.

On Patrol: North River Boats
ALMAR by North River Boats of Roseburg Oregon recently built and launched the first of three 29 x 10 ft. Liberty Walk Around vessels destined for the San Francisco area. The Liberty family of boats features a Wing Hybrid Foam/Air Fender protecting the exterior perimeter of the boat. Capable of speeds greater than 46 knots, this is a high speed craft designed for pursuit, quick maneuvering and excellent sea keeping capabilities.
Concordia, Neste Sell Jointly Owned Tankers
Concordia Maritime and Finnish Neste Oil have reached an agreement on the sale of the two jointly owned Ice Class 1A panamax tankers, Stena Poseidon and Palva. The buyer is Transport Maritime St-Laurent Inc. and the tankers are expected to be delivered in April/May 2014. Stena Poseidon and Palva are panamax tankers with a deadweight of 75,000 tons and were delivered from Brodosplit Shipyard in Split in 2007. They are jointly owned by Concordia Maritime and Neste Oil.
