Arctic Prowler to be Christened Oct. 5
Alaska Longline, LLC, and Alaska Ship & Drydock (ASD) will christen the F/V Arctic Prowler on Oct. 5, 2013. The ceremony for the new 136 ft. freezer longliner will be held at the Ketchikan Shipyard in Ketchikan, Alaska. F/V Arctic Prowler, the first large commercial fishing vessel to be built in Alaska, is an Ocean going Factory Longliner, capable of processing and storing catch aboard. The vessel is to be Load Lined and classed by Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and will be U.S. flagged.
Hansa Orders Interschalt's TROP Module for 30 Vessels
Hansa Shipping has successfully been using Interschalt's MACS3 loading computer for its own container fleet for several years now. In order for the shipping company to be able to operate its vessels even more efficiently, Managing Director Peter Mackeprang has opted for a system upgrade to improve efficiency. As a result, the General Manager for technical and nautical issues at Hansa Shipping has placed an order for 30 TROP modules for the loading computer.

Ingalls Delivers Hangar for Navy Destroyer
Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) announced that its Ingalls Shipbuilding division has delivered the composite hangar that will be used on the U.S. Navy's second Zumwalt-class guided missile destroyer, Michael Monsoor (DDG 1001). The 220-ton structure will be translated to a shipping barge and sent to Maine in early October. Ingalls is building the hangar, peripheral vertical launch system (PVLS) and composite deckhouse for Michael Monsoor.

Engine Showcase: Scania 16-liter V8 EPA Tier 3 Engine
Scania’s 16-liter V8 EPA Tier 3 engine, intended for propulsion and auxiliary use, will be one of two engines showcased at The International Workboat Show in New Orleans, Louisiana. Scania engines are all based on Scania's new modular engine platform, which is used for marine, industrial, power generation, truck and bus applications worldwide. The engines build on a long tradition of amazing power packages that share both technology and architecture with Scania's truck and bus engines.

Dryad Maritime Intelligence, a U.K. maritime intelligence provider, issued guidance on the latest framework of standards to be issued by the maritime security industry. Their advisory considers and comments upon the three main proposed standards that are currently hot topics of debate in the maritime security industry; the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) PAS 28007, the International Code of Conduct for Private Security Service Providers (ICoC) and ANSI / ASIS PSC 1 & 4.
Pronomar Drying Systems on Statoil Platform
Hertel, a global industrial services company with European roots, headquartered in Rotterdam/NL, recently signed a contract to engineer, design and construct the accommodation on a Statoil platform, to be located in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. To complete the platform and accommodate the crew on the platform, Hertel asked Pronomar to deliver its Top Trock drying systems to be installed in on-site cabinets.
