MSC Completes Annual Antarctica Resupply Mission
Military Sealift Command-chartered container ship MV Green Wave departed McMurdo Station, Antarctica, Feb. 25, after delivering more than 6.8 million pounds of vital supplies in support of Operation Deep Freeze. ODF is the annual Joint Task Force Support For Antarctica mission to resupply the remote scientific outpost. Green Wave followed MSC-chartered tanker MT Maersk Peary, which brought more than 6.3 million gallons of crucial diesel, gasoline and jet fuel to McMurdo Station Jan. 28-31.

This vessel is fully equipped for anchor handling, ship-assist, long distance towing operation, fire-fighting, deck cargo transfers, personnel transfer and other offshore support duties.

Hapag-Lloyd Containership Fleet Reduces CO2 Emissions
Hapag-Lloyd became the first shipping company in the world to have its entire own-managed fleet certified in accordance with the IMO’s Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI). The independent certification was carried out by Germanischer Lloyd and shows that many vessels in the Hapag-Lloyd fleet have an EEDI that is between 20 and 27% better than the average figure for the active global fleet in their respective classes.

Ingalls Awarded USN Contract for 11th LPD 27
The US Navy has awarded a million cost-plus-fixed-fee advance procurement modification contract to Huntington Ingalls Industries' (HII) Ingalls Shipbuilding division to provide long-lead materials for the 11th San Antonio-class (LPD 17) amphibious transport dock, LPD 27. The advance procurement contract for LPD 27 is the fourth to be awarded to the company, with the first contract awarded in October 2010.

Azimut Yachts announced the start of construction of their 42-meter planing megayacht. The largest of the line the new model include accommodation for twelve guests in five cabins as well crew size of ten. Technically, she will have a top speed in the region of 22-knots with cruising at 17-knots. All to be made possible via her intended twin MTU 16V 4000 M93L engines. Sailing conservatively at 12-knots or less, the Azimut Grande 42-meter will have a range of 1,200 nautical miles or more.
