SeaBird Exploration Decides on Seismic Vessel Purchase
SeaBird Exploration has notified the owner of 'Hawk Explorer' that it will exercise its option under the current charter agreement to purchase the vessel and related equipment for USD 6.5 million. The vessel and equipment will be delivered at the end of the lease term 31 August 2014 against settlement of the purchase price. Norway-based SeaBird, is a global provider of marine acquisition for 2D/3D and 4D seismic data, and associated products and services to the oil and gas industry.

How to Calibrate an AC-operated LVDT Linear Position Sensor
Calibration is necessary before the installation of an AC- operated linear position sensor to ensure accuracy. Calibration corrects any slight variances between sensors, helping to improve repeatability. Because of the linearity of LVDT Sensor output, a simple two-point calibration is simple. Two points should be as far apart as possible, but within the linear range of the LVDT Linear Position Sensor and preferable within the measurement range in which it will be used.

Failed Terrorist Attack on Suez Canal
On Saturday August 31, 2013, a terrorist act was directed to traffic at the Suez Canal. The terrorists targeted one of the ships going through the waterway, MV Cosco Aisia, hoisting the Panamanian flag. The attempt failed with no damage, whatsoever, either to the ship or its cargo of containers. The situation was dealt with by Egyptian armed forces, and the vessel resumed its trip safely to the port of destination, while Suez Canal navigation is back to normal and ship traffic is quite regular.
