New Industries Delivers Pressure Vessels
New Industries, Inc., of Morgan City, La. completed the fabrication of two 18' diameter x 223'-9" long pressure vessels for Conrad Shipyard, LLC, also of Morgan City. New Industries, Inc. has fabricated 56 LPG tanks ranging in size from 14’ -10” diameter x 180’ long x 240 tons to 18’ diameter x 223’ long x 430 tons. Currently, New Industries’ backlog on LPG tanks stretches into the 2nd quarter of 2014.

Coast Guard Medevacs Shrimper Crewman
A Coast Guard aircrew medevaced a 45-year-old crewman from a 100-foot shrimper approximately 60 miles south of Intracoastal City in the Gulf of Mexico, Thursday. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a request from the fishing vessel Poncho at approximately 5 p.m. reporting a crewman was experiencing stroke-like symptoms. Sector New Orleans directed the launch of a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans to launch.

Human Remains Recovered Following Costa Concordia Parbuckling
The Italian Civil Protection announced that human remains have been found by divers from the public order services as part of the search process following the parbuckling operation. DNA testing will be made for confirmation that the remains belong to the two missing victims of the Concordia shipwreck. Canada’s Largest Con/Ro Vessel Delivered
The largest Canadian Flag Con/Ro ship will set sail tomorrow from Flensburg, Germany destined for St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. Following a series of successful sea trials, Oceanex Inc. accepted delivery of the vessel today as originally scheduled. The Oceanex Connaigra is expected to arrive in St. John’s next weekend, where it will stay for a few days before sailing to Halifax to work the Halifax service while the Oceanex Sanderling completes a short dry dock.

EU, Seychelles Complete Search and Rescue Exercise
On 26 September, the Seychelles Peoples Defense Force, Coast Guard and Air Force, together with the EU Naval Force (EU NAVFOR) Somalia Operation Atalanta and EUCAP Nestor, carried out a search and rescue exercise in Seychelles waters. The operation was coordinated centrally by the Seychelles Coast Guard Maritime Operation Center and held in conjunction with the port visit of the Dutch EU NAVFOR flagship, HNLMS Johan de Witt, to the Seychelles.

The Planning Inspectorate accepted Forewind’s development consent order application for the first stage of offshore wind energy development on the Dogger Bank Zone.
