ADEC Reports on Cruise Wastewater

February 20, 2004

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) released its Assessment of Cruise Ship and Ferry Wastewater Impacts in Alaska. The report indicates that large commercial passenger ships discharging wastewater in Alaska are meeting federal and state water treatment requirements. Small cruise ships and state ferries continue to use traditional treatment and frequently exceed federal and state standards. These smaller vessels were given additional time in which to come into compliance. (Source: HK Law).
