Imtech Marine Opens Two New Offices in Spain

Press Release
Monday, November 12, 2012

Imtech Marine, global full-service provider of tailor-made, innovative marine technology solutions, opened a new office in Barcelona on November 1, just weeks after adding Valencia to its extensive global network.

In October 2011, Imtech Marine opened its first Spanish office in Algeciras. With the latest Spanish additions the Rotterdam-headquartered company now has 94 offices worldwide, strategically located on major shipping lanes and in shipbuilding centers.

The new Barcelona office is located in the MB92 Shipyard, one of the most important Super/Mega yacht shipyards in the Mediterranean. As well as further expanding its activities in the deepsea and superyacht market, Imtech Marine is looking to boost its presence in the cruise market in Spain. Imtech Marine also offers services in the nearby area and port of Gibraltar.

Eric van den Adel, Managing Director of Imtech Marine, comments: “Algeciras, Valencia and Barcelona are the most important ports in Spain and in the top 10 ports in Europe. Imtech Marine announced its ambitious strategy in 2010 for the coming five years, to be the preferred systems integrator and service providing partner for customers, giving them one point of contact for the full lifecycle of the vessel. Our expansion is not driven by a need to be the biggest, only the best. We have to be in all the vital spots in the world where ships are being operated. It is simple: be where the customer wants you. We will continue to open more offices and add more services into our network,” he emphasises.

Jose Maria Granado, General Manager Imtech Marine Spain, said: “We aim to increase our coverage of Spain, which is an important maritime center. Barcelona is one of the top five ports in Spain for the deepsea market but it is also Spain’s number one port for cruise liners.”

Complete product & service portfolio

Offering 24/7 service, the Spanish offices cover Imtech Marine’s complete systems and services portfolio, including automation, energy & drive, HVAC, AV entertainment, navigation and communication. “With local expert technicians, we can serve both Spanish and international clients sailing in Spanish territory for their maintenance and servicing needs.”
