Tunisia receives offers for 125,000 tons of barley, traders report

Posted to Maritime Reporter on November 27, 2025

Initial assessments by European traders indicate that the lowest price offered at Thursday's international tender for around 125,000 tons of animal feed barley from Tunisia was $268.42 per ton, including freight and cost.

Trading house Aston was believed to be the one who made the offer for 25,000 tonnes to be sourced from a variety of origins.

They said that no purchase had yet been reported, and offers were still being considered.

The reports reflect the opinions of traders, and it is still possible to estimate prices and volume later.

The barley will be shipped in five consignments of 25,000 tons between December 20, 2020 and February 15, 2026 depending on which origin is selected.

Eight trading houses have participated in the tender to date.

Aston followed with a second offer of $269.42 per ton, c&f. Soufflet also offered $269.58 per ton, c&f. Other offers ranged from over $270 up to over $280 per ton, including $271.47 by Dreyfus as well as $275.69 by Casillo.

If the agency deems the other conditions associated with the price as being unattractive, it may not purchase the lowest priced offer.
