ABS Reports Increase in Fleet Size
Speaking at the 150th Annual Members Meeting of the classification society on 24 April 2012, in New York, ABS Chairman Robert D. Somerville reported that every sector of the ABS enterprise “contributed to another year of record performance in terms of the size of the ABS-classed fleet and strong orderbook.” ABS will continue to use its experience and knowledge “to create the innovations that will shape the maritime classification,” said Somerville. ABS Elects Tony Nassif as Executive Vice President
In response to its continued global expansion, leading international classification society ABS has strengthened its executive leadership team with the election of Tony Nassif as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the society. The election was made by the ABS Board of Directors at its meeting this week. Nassif moves to ABS from his position as President and CEO of the society’s wholly owned affiliate, ABS Group of Companies Inc.

ABS Nautical Systems Inks Contracts in Greece
ABS Nautical Systems has signed two new contracts in Greece with Millenia Maritime Inc. and TMS Tankers Ltd. Both companies will benefit from the ABS Newbuild Program which offers free software to ABS-classed vessels built after 1 January 2009. Millenia Martime Inc. will be installing the Hull Inspection and Maintenance & Repair modules from the NS5 Enterprise software suite on nine of its ABS-classed chemical carriers as a way to test a potentially more user-friendly system.

Analytic Systems has announced that it has responded to its commercial marine reseller network in North America and started the process of certifying their marine specific power conversion products. The first models to be certified to ABS standards are the new BCA1505 (1500W AC charger); the BCA310 (300W AC charger); the IPS300 (300W DC/AC Puresine inverter) and the VTC315 (Isolated DC/DC voltage converter).
