Navantia, Thales to Upgrade Royal Thai Navy Fleet
Navantia and Thales have signed a partnership agreement to support the modernization of the Royal Thai Navy (RTN), including the supply of three Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) systems for two Pattani-class offshore patrol vessels and the HTMS Chang landing platform dock.The upgrade work will be carried out by Navantia and marks the first cooperation between the Spanish shipbuilder and Thales in Thailand.
Navantia Seanergies Delivers Second Substation Jacket for French OW Farm
Navantia Seanergies, Spanish shipbuilder Navantia’s green energies division, has delivered its second substation jacket for Ocean Winds for the offshore wind farm at Dieppe Le Tréport in France.The jacket departed from the south basin of the Puerto Real shipyard, bound for its destination on France’s Atlantic coast.The structure – almost 54 metres tall and weighing approximately 1,900 tonnes – was fully fabricated at the Puerto Real facility and was loaded out on May 13, 2025.

Spanish Warship Set for Propulsion Refit
ABB said it has secured a contract with the Spanish state-owned Navantia shipbuilding company to retrofit the Spanish Navy flagship Juan Carlos I with an electrical propulsion system based on dual ABB Azipod units. Navantia Orders Sedni IAS for PEMEX Flotel

Navantia Banks on the Future
It is no secret that the Spanish shipbuilding sector has hit on hard times, particularly in the big ship sector where much of the commercial business has evolved to lower cost manufacturers in the Far East. But considering that Navantia has a 300-year history, the current downturn is put in perspective. While Navantia is not without challenges, it has the aforementioned experience and a military backlog to lean on.
