TUI CEO Steps Aside from Charitiable Foundation Chair
Thomas Ellerbeck, member of the Management Board of the Germany-based travel and cruise ship firm TUI AG, has been appointed by the Group’s Executive Board to take over this mandate from Friedrich Joussen, who is CEO of TUI AG.
(With Hapag-Lloyd Kreuzfahrten and TUI Cruises, TUI AG’s portfolio has two brands in its portfolia offering maritime holidays. It is also in a joint venture with Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. which offers cruises for the German-speaking market aboard the cruise ship Mein Schiff 1).
TUI explain that Ellerbeck is the company’s Management Board member in charge of Corporate & External Affairs, including Politics, International Relations, Group Communications, CR and Sustainable Development, the TUI Foundation and the Trademarks, Patents and Licenses Department.
Thomas Ellerbeck has supported professional management of foundations for more than ten years and is also personally engaged in honorary positions. Since 2000, he has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Lindau Meetings of Nobel Prize Laureates, founded in 1951, was a co-founder of the Foundation of the Lindau Meetings of Nobel Prize Laureates and has been Honorary Chairman of the Foundation on Lake Constance since it was founded in 2001.
Under his responsibility, the Foundation has developed from a supportive into an operative foundation and has become a recognised centre of competence in the fields of education, integration and social mobility.
The TUI Foundation was established in 2000 to mark the 75th anniversary of Preussag AG (legal predecessor of TUI AG) as the Preussag Foundation. The Foundation promotes activities in three target areas: “Education and Training”, “Research and Science” and “Arts and Culture”.
