U.K. Government Ministers to Speak at LISW

The U.K. Government has put its support firmly behind the inaugural London International Shipping Week (LISW) by confirming two of its Ministers as main speakers at the LISW Conference to be held at the Lloyd’s Building on Thursday, September 12.

Lord Green of Hurstpierpoint, Minister for Trade and Investment will address delegates on the key issue of London’s role in propelling world trade while the Rt Hon Stephen Hammond, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport and the Shipping Minister, will give a keynote address emphasizing London’s position at the center of world trade, shipping and maritime services.

Confirmed speakers include The Lord Mayor of the City of London, Alderman Roger Gifford; Koji Sekimizu, Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization; Masamichi Morooka, Chairman of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) as well as John Denholm, President of BIMCO. Peter Hinchliffe, ICS Secretary General, will also speak. Other notable speakers include Nigel J Anton, Global Head of Shipping, Standard Chartered Bank; Dominic Casserley, CEO Willis Group; Grantley Berkeley, Chairman, International Group of P&I Clubs; Denis Petropoulos, Director, Braemar Shipping Services Plc; Tom Boardley, Marine Director, Lloyd’s Register and Mariella Bottiglieri, Managing Director, Giuseppe Bottiglieri Shipping Company Italia Spa.

Admiral Sir George Zambellas KCB DSC, First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval Staff, will also speak on the issue of security.

London International Shipping Week – Propelling World Trade will take place between September 9-13, 2013 and will offer key networking opportunities as well as a daylong government and industry conference and gala dinner to be held on Thursday, September 12.

The event is being organized by Shipping Innovation, a joint venture between Elaborate Communications and Petrospot, in association with a hard-hitting Steering Group made up of, among others, Jeremy Penn, Chief Executive of the Baltic Exchange, Doug Barrow, Chief Executive of Maritime London and Mark Brownrigg, Director General of the U.K. Chamber of Shipping as well as Hamish Rowan-Hamilton from TheCityUK.
