BMT’s Fleet Management System to Debut at Nor-Shipping

BMT SMART Ltd., the specialist fleet and vessel performance management company of BMT Group, will launch its new SMARTFLEET Management system at Nor-Shipping in Oslo next month. Technical experts will be on hand to showcase the system and its capabilities whilst discussing with delegates their specific challenges and needs. Peter Mantel, Managing Director of BMT SMART commented, “Whilst there are cost savings to be made through on-board optimization, these are often extremely hard to quantify in a verifiable way and these types of tools can be seen as a burden to the crew.

BMT Partners with Aage Hempel

BMT SMART (BMT),  has announced  that Aage Hempel has become an accredited service partner. This agreement will provide both organizations with the opportunity to enhance their proposition in helping to optimize shipping operations worldwide. As part of a two day workshop at Aage Hempel’s head office in Algeciras, Spain, BMT will deliver both hardware and software training on its SMART range of fleet and vessel performance management software and services to a number of engineers.

Danelec Receives VDR Orders from Italy, the Netherlands

Danelec Marine, a supplier of marine Voyage Data Recorders (VDRs), announced that it has received VDR retrofit orders from its distributors in Italy and the Netherlands. Telemar SpA has taken orders for 11 Danelec DM400 VDRs from Italian shipowner Tirrenia, replacing the existing VDRs on its fleet of passenger and cargo ships’ operating on routes in the Mediterranean. Founded in Naples in 1936, Tirrenia was acquired by Compagnia Italiana di Navigazione on July 19, 2012. Telemar was founded in 1947, and is one of the world’s largest international managed satellite service and navcom maintenance providers with 14 operating companies in 12 countries. Aage Hempel, distributor for Danelec Marine in the Netherlands, is supplying VDRs for eight dry cargo ships operated by Feederlines.

Aage Hempel to Equip 10 New PSVs

Aage Hempel, a company in worldwide merchant marine electronic service and focused on 24/7 maritime sales and service, signs agreement for the delivery of navigation and communication equipment included Integrated Bridge System from Kelvin Hughes with Shipyard De Hoop in Lobith. The Platform Supply Vessels (PSV) are for Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC). The first vessel is to be delivered early 2015, while the delivery of the other nine vessels is equally spread over almost 1.5 years, with the last PSV to be handed over at the end of 2016.
