Smith Joins HII Corporate Team

Huntington Ingalls Industries appoints Michael S. Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) announced today that Michael S. Smith has joined the company as corporate vice president, business growth. He will work closely with the HII's senior leadership team in support of corporate development and strategic endeavors and will serve as the company interface with business associations in Washington, D.C. Smith will work in HII's Washington, D.C., office and report to Mitchell B. Waldman, corporate vice president, government and customer relations.

ACV Development: DoD Award Contract Modifications

The US Department of Defense informs it has awarded contract modifications to previously awarded contracts with BAE Systems Land & Armaments, as well as with General Dynamics Information Technology to understand the risks and assist the government in determining the best approach for developing a High Waterspeed Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV). The DoD explains that detailed trade studies, requirements studies, operational effectiveness analyses and initial concept design results have been reported to Marine Corps leadership and the assistant secretary of the Navy research, development and acquisition by each of the companies named.

BAE Gets Virginia-class Submarine Propulsor Funding

The US Department of Defense has issued a Navy contract modification to BAE Systems Land and Armaments L.P., Louisville, Ky., to support manufacture of propulsors for two Virginia-class nuclear submarines. The $15,222,617 modification to a previously awarded contract (N00024-09-C-4137) has been issued to BAE Systems to supply long lead time materials in support of the manufacture of the Virginia-class submarine propulsors for SSN 792 and SSN 793. DoD inform that work will be performed in Louisville, Ky., and is expected to be completed by February 2015.

BAE Systems Land & Armaments Lands $44.3M Contract

BAE Systems Land & Armaments, LP, Ground Systems Division, York, Pa., is being awarded $44,339,800 for firm fixed priced delivery order #0004 under previously awarded contract for the purchase of 89 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle Category I United States Special Operations Command Variants and vehicle sustainment Integrated Logistic Support. Work will be performed in York, Pa., and is expected to be completed by March 2008. Contract funds will not expire by the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured. The Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico, Va., is the contracting activity.

BAE Systems Land & Armaments, LP, Ground Systems Division, York, Pa., is being awarded $278,441,800 firm fixed priced delivery order #0005 under previously awarded contract for the purchase of 399 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Category II vehicles and 112 MRAP Category II Ambulance Variant vehicles. Work will be performed in York, Pa., and work is expected to be completed by April 2008. Contract funds will not expire by the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured. The Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico, Va., is the contracting activity.
