Five Killed After Barge Hits Bridge Near China's Guangzhou

Five people were killed after a barge collided with a bridge over a waterway in China's Pearl River Delta near Guangzhou city, causing part of the bridge to break off, plunging vehicles into the water, Chinese state media reported on Thursday.The barge was travelling from Foshan city to a southern district of Guangzhou when it crashed into the bridge at 5:30 a.m. (2130 GMT) on the Hongqili Waterway, the Guangzhou Maritime Safety Administration said in a statement.Images on state…

Barge Smashes Bridge Piling

A barge struck a piling of Nara Singa Bridge, also known as Bridge Two — one of the Batam-Rempang-Galang (Barelang) series of bridges — at 3 a.m. on Sunday, according to the Jakata Post. The incident remains under investigation by the Batam Free Trade Zone Management Agency (BP FTZ), the Post reported. The barge reportedly left the scene of the collision. A source told the Jakarta Post that a search is still for the barge is still underway, adding that the collision had damaged the submersible underside of the bridge, requiring a structural safety examination. Hatteland Wins USCG Contract

On October 5th, 2008, Hatteland Display received an order for 290  Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) displays for  installation on the US Coast Guard buoy tender fleet. The United States  Coast Guard (USCG) Command and Control Center located in Portsmouth, VA  selected the company's JH19T14MMD (Maritime Multi Display), and procured  the displays through a contract awarded to CHI Systems of Ft. Washington, PA. The contract was awarded following the issuing by the USCG of a  competitive request for proposal seeking qualified sources for delivery of  ECDIS monitors for its buoy tending fleet of 225' WLB and the 175' WLM  vessels. The navigation and ECDIS installations aboard the buoy tending fleet are  substantial and require Type Approved ECDIS displays.

Trailer Bridge Announces Pricing of Senior Secured Notes

Trailer Bridge, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRBR) announced that it had priced its offering of senior secured notes due 2011 (the ``Notes''). The Notes were priced at a fixed interest rate of 9.25% and investor interest in the Notes resulted in the overall amount offered increasing to $85 million from the initial offering amount of $80 million. Interest on the Notes will be payable semiannually on May 15 and November 15 of each year. The Notes will be secured by a first priority lien on two roll-on, roll-off vessels, 53’ intermodal equipment and real estate. The offering is expected to close on December 1, 2004. Trailer Bridge expects to receive approximately $81.5 million in net proceeds from the offering of the Notes.

Study Culminates In New Tug Contracts

Following a detailed six-month study assessing its contract towing requirements, Trailer Bridge, Inc. signed separate long-term agreements that match the best marine power units in the market with the company's vessel assets. In March 2001 Trailer Bridge finalized a long-term agreement with Moran Towing Corporation to exclusively utilize Moran's Heidi class 4,350 horsepower tugs to pull all four of the TBC's currently deployed by Trailer Bridge. This decision followed the excellent results produced through the Company's use of two Heidi class tugs. The Company's TBC vessels are utilized for weekly services between Jacksonville, FL and San Juan, PR, as well as Newark, NJ and San Juan, PR.
