Elcome Opens Algeciras Office

Elcome International, provider of maritime systems integration, technical support and shipboard service, announced the opening of another office in Europe. Based in the Spanish port city of Algeciras, the facility will offer sales and technical support for the company’s growing portfolio of ship navigation, communication, satellite connectivity and coastal surveillance systems. Transas Shifts Sole Focus to Maritime Sector

Arranging new changes to its brand positioning, the Transas Group informs it will now focus its efforts solely in the maritime market. The group’s shareholders made the decision to focus the Transas brand on the maritime business only, taking into account the success of Transas and its brand awareness in the maritime IT market and dominating position in several key segments of this market, Transas explained. The group’s other business segments, including aviation technologies and non-marine simulation, will be rebranded in accordance with the new strategy.

Transas, MDS Win Taiwan's Coastal Surveillance Contract

Transas Marine Pacific and its local partner Mercuries Data Systems (MDS) have secured a multi-million contract from the Taiwan Coast Guard Administration for installation and commissioning of the National Coastal Surveillance System. The mission-critical system is based on the Transas Navi-Harbour software employing advanced features for accurate detection, tracking and identification of small and high-speed targets. The system will provide the Taiwan Coast Guard with real time data on any activities occurring in a coastal zone thus ensuring full control over an entire coastal area. It will help to prevent illegal activity, to protect critical onshore infrastructure from intruders and support decision-making process.

Norfolk/Bremen – The Atlas Elektronik Group, a worldwide acting company for maritime defense electronics, has founded a subsidiary in North America. Atlas North America (Atlas NA) has been set up to establish a strong and reliable partnership with the US Navy and US authorities. As potential main contractor Atlas NA will provide Atlas products and solutions for current or future US users. This is an important step within the globalization strategy of the company, which is based with its headquarters in Germany.

Transas Appoints New Sales Manager

Transas has appointed Henry Nel, as the Sales Manager for Shore- Based Systems in the USA. In his position, Henry will be responsible for increasing the sales of Transas VTS and coastal surveillance systems in North America, providing support on AIS to all Transas offices around the world and giving input to the design team on AIS related products. Moreover, Henry will be in charge of establishing a second Transas office in the USA to improve customer’ support in the regions geographically remote from the TM USA main office in Lynnwood, WA. In addition to the strong theoretical background in Electronic Engineering (Honours Degree from the University of Pretoria), Henry has a 10-years hands-on experience as a System Engineer.
