A predictive intelligence company applying AI global maritime trade has launched a solution to minimize risk exposure in maritime trade as it relates to ongoing sanctions against Russia.In response to the recent Russian invasion into Ukraine, heavy economic sanctions were imposed days prior to the invasion and have since escalated rapidly. Amongst the most prominent organizations affected are Sverbank and VTB, two of the largest Russian financial institutions, state-owned Sovcomflot, Russia’s largest maritime and freight shipping company, and the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.

Bureau Veritas has introduced the first phase of My Fuel Consumption, a cloud-based and secure web application for desktop, mobile and tablet that aims to make compliance easy, with a digitized process throughout the various steps of IMO-DCS (declaration of fuel consumption) and EU MRV regulations (CO2 emissions).All ships of 5,000 GT and above must submit IMO-DCS plan to receive a confirmation of compliance, from their flag states or delegated Recognized Organizations (ROs) before January 1, 2019.

DonJon-SMIT New Salvage, Lightering & Marine Firefighting Package
Donjon-SMIT, LLC’s Board of Directors announced that its new Salvage, Lightering and Marine Firefighting (SMFF) services package is now complete and includes a new Coast Guard-approved and International Group of P&I Club–accepted contract. Providing the first of its kind rate sheets and a funding agreement, Donjon-SMIT believes vessel owners will benefit from the extent of the contract which fairly protects the interests of both shipowner and salvor. Also included in Donjon-SMIT’s package is its 2011 retainer fee rate structure for tank vessels operating under the new OPA-90 salvage regulations that go into effect in early 2011. GL Offers New Bulk Carrier Database
Shipping companies and owners of bulk carriers can now use a new database developed by Germanischer Lloyd to obtain comprehensive information about all requirements relating to the structural and equipment aspects in relation to the cargoes to be conveyed in each case. The new cargo compliance tool "PROTOS" (Provisions for Transportation of Solid Bulk Cargoes) was presented at the first Bulker Forum, which was attended by over 40 shipowners and business partners. PROTOS references all the statutory structural and equipment-related requirements applying to a bulk carrier for the envisaged cargo. In view of the approx. 60 different types of solid bulk cargoes, the requirements for ventilation and explosion-protection, for example, may differ considerably.
