Drydocks, Aker Solutions JV Pens Deal to Upgrade FPSO for Equinor's Rosebank Field

Dubai's shipbuilding and shiprepair company Drydocks World and Norwegian offshore engineering and construction firm Aker Solutions have established a joint venture to upgrade the Petrojarl Knarr FPSO for Equinor's Rosebank offshore oil and gas field in the UK, the Government of Dubai media office confirmed Friday.The joint venture signed its first contract with FPSO owner Altera Infrastructure to upgrade, refurbish, and electrify the FPSO. Maritime Industry Council Established in Dubai

Dubai Council for Marine and Maritime Industries, the umbrella industry body representing the marine and relevant industry, had its first introductory member’s meeting. The meeting sought to introduce the members, lay the broad framework for future operations, brainstorming on pressing industry issues and strengthen the foundation for meaningful networking among industry partners. Dubai Maritime City Signs Land Lease With Dubai Shipbuilding

Dubai - Dubai Maritime City, the center for maritime activity in the Middle East region, announced today that it has signed a Land Lease agreement for 25 years with ship repair and building entity, Dubai Shipbuilding. The Agreement was signed by Sheikh Juma bin Thani bin Juma Al Maktoum,  Executive Director – Business District, Dubai Maritime City, and Bader Moh’d Obaid bin Mubarak, Deputy Chairman, Dubai Ship Building. The area of the land is over 11,196 sq. m. and is a Ship Repair Plot within the Business District of Dubai Maritime City. “We continue to strengthen our operations in Dubai Maritime City, since the formal launch of the Maritime District last year. This partnership will help us take greater strides in promoting the region as a global maritime hub.

Berg’s Azimuth Thruster Breakthrough

Berg Propulsion signed a contract with Dubai Shipbuilding and Engineering to deliver its first two production units of Berg Propulsion Azimuth Thrusters (BAT) in early 2010. The BAT is wholly designed within Berg Propulsion Technology, the R&D company within the Berg Propulsion Group. Prior to the delivery of the first two production units, Berg Propulsion will deliver a full scale prototype that will be installed into a Survey Vessel in Sweden in June 2009 enabling Berg Propulsion Technology to evaluate the design, manufacturing and installation process.
