Harley Marine Acquires 10 Vessels from Enterprise Marine

Harley Marine Services (HMS), a full service marine transportation provider, has acquired certain offshore marine assets of Enterprise Marine Services LLC (EMS), a subsidiary of Enterprise Products Partners, L.P. The acquisition includes 10 vessels to be used in current operations: six double hull petroleum barges and four tugboats. Harley Marine will also acquire the expertise and knowledge of current Enterprise employees associated with these assets, making the transition smooth and seamless as the vessels are incorporated into the Harley Marine fleet and adapt to the company's policies and procedures, the company said. "Securing these assets supports our growth strategy and our focus on exceeding needs and expectations of our customers.

Z-Drive Tech Spreads on US Waterways

Enterprise Marine Services, a subsidiary of Enterprise Products Partners L.P., is making a major commitment to Z-Drives for the U.S. inland waterways. They currently have four Z-Drive boats in service and have taken delivery of two new Z-Drive vessels from Sneed Shipbuilding in Texas with three more under construction. The new vessels, named Sheridan A and Terry H, were built by Sneed Shipbuilding, Inc., Channelview, Texas. They measure 87 by 34 by 11.5 feet and have a 34-foot 10-inch eye level. They are powered with a pair of 1,000 hp.

They are powered with a pair of 1,000 hp. Cummins QSK 38M, Tier III, diesels coupled to Z-Drives from ZF Marine.

Intracoastal Waterway Reopened After Barge Collision

The U.S. Coast Guard has fully reopened the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) near Bolivar Peninsula, Texas Monday at 9:15 p.m. Monday, after closing it for a barge collision earlier in the day. At approximately 1:20 a.m. Monday, a collision occurred at ICW mile marker 349 involving two eastbound Kirby Inland Marine barges being pushed by the tug Capt. Shorty C and two westbound Enterprise Marine Services barges being pushed by the tug Jackie. The collision occurred when one tug pulling the barges reportedly lost power.

Leevac Wins Deal to Build PSV Pair for Aries Marine

Leevac Shipyards Jennings LLC,  Jennings, La., signed contracts with Aries Marine, Inc of Lafayette, La., to build two LEEVAC Design Services “LDS” 270 DE PSV, a 270 x 56 x 21.5 ft. diesel electric Platform Supply Vessels (PSV). “We are very excited to have this opportunity to begin this partnership with a company like Aries Marine” said Christian Vaccari, President of LEEVAC. The LDS 270 DE PSV will have a deadweight capacity of 4000 LTsw and will carry more than 13,000 barrels of liquid mud. Each will be powered by four 3516C Caterpillar generators rated at 1825 kw each.

Tidewater Orders Two LEEVAC Platform Supply Vessels

LEEVAC Shipyards Jennings LLC, Jennings, LA, announced it has signed contracts with Tidewater Marine, LLC of New Orleans, LA to build two LEEVAC Design Services “LDS ” Platform Supply Vessel (PSV), a 300’ x 62’ x 24’ diesel electric PSV with options for two additional vessels. The LDS 300 DE PSV will have a deadweight capacity of 5400 LTs and will carry more than 17,600 barrels of liquid mud. It will be powered by four Caterpillar Model 3516C Tier 3 IMO II Marine variable speed diesel propulsion generator sets rated at 2100kw each.

Thomas Miller Acquires Brookes Bell

UK-based international provider of market leading insurance services Thomas Miller has acquired international marine consultancy business Brookes Bell for an undisclosed sum. Brookes Bell is a leading marine technical and surveying consultancy with offices in Liverpool, London, Glasgow, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore. It has served the marine and energy industries since 1903, providing specialist services in areas including emergency response, casualty investigation, salvage and wreck removal operations, scientific cargo expertise, forensic engineering and expert witness services.

China's Pingtan in Clear with Nasdaq

Dredging and Ocean Fishing listed firm Pingtan Marine Enterprise Ltd. (Nasdaq: PME) confirms its continued listing & compliance with all quantitative listing requirements. Pingtan, a marine services company providing territorial sea fishing and dredging services in the People's Republic of China (PRC), has announced that the it has received a letter from the Nasdaq Listing Qualifications Panel (the "Panel") stating that it has concluded that the company has demonstrated compliance with all applicable listing requirements. Intergraph Korea Acquires TechServer

Intergraph Korea Ltd. has acquired all the shares of TechServer Corp., a Seoul-based software and services company specializing in automated drafting, data exchange and system integration in the shipbuilding, process, power and offshore industries. The acquisition will complement and enhance Intergraph’s SmartPlant and SmartMarine Enterprise engineering software solutions and expand Intergraph’s capability to serve its growing Asia-Pacific customer base. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. TechServer has expertise in software enhancement and integration services, especially for shipbuilding, which is a key enhancement to the Intergraph’s Asia-Pacific marine services center capabilities.

Aveva Launches New Software

Hyundai Drive Made First Call to Hamad Port

Qatar’s Hamad Port announced the addition of a new service from South Korean shipping line Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) to its growing network list, QNA reported. HMM’s 365.5-metre-long ‘Hyundai Drive’ made its first call to Hamad Port, marking the official start of a new Hyundai Merchant Marine’s KME (Korea Middle East Express) service. It is the largest container vessel to make its maiden call in Qatar since the opening of Hamad Port. The vessel from Kwangyang Port in South Korea arrived at Hamad Port in the container terminal CT1.

Royston Expands UK Engineering Facilities

Royston Diesel Power has doubled the size of its UK engineering facilities to support continuing global growth in its marine engine service business and new technology development. As part of a £500,000 ($676,000) investment program the company has opened an additional 15,000 sq. ft. of engineering workshop premises alongside its existing headquarters on the banks of the River Tyne. As well as increasing the company’s engine repair and maintenance capability, the new center will also provide a focus for a range of other technical support functions.

ABS Nautical Systems Gains Three Greek Customers

ABS Nautical Systems expands in Greece with contracts signed by Sun Enterprises Ltd., Quintana Shipping Ltd. and Nautilus Marine Acquisition Corp. All three companies will utilize ABS Nautical Systems’ Energy & Environmental Manager module through the ABS Newbuild Program, which offers complimentary software to ABS-classed vessels built after January 1, 2009. Sun Enterprises Ltd., located in Piraeus, serves as the consolidated operating company for a modern fleet of tankers and dry bulk carriers. The company will implement the software solution on three of its newly-built vessels. Quintana Shipping Ltd. located in Kifisia is an international provider of shipping transportation services through the ownership and operation of dry bulk vessels.

Seacat Services Launches High Speed Utility Vessel

Offshore energy support vessel operator, Seacat Services, is preparing to launch its first High Speed Utility Vessel (HSUV), Seacat Enterprise. The 27m South Boats IoW catamaran is a new category of vessel for the offshore wind market, designed to provide both rapid crew transfer and wide-ranging logistical support for extended periods at sea.
