FCS Logistics Renamed GreenCarrier Finland

The IATA approved Finnish forwarding company Oy FCS Logistics Ltd has been renamed GreenCarrier Finland Oy, with effect from 23 February, 2009. All contact details will be unchanged with the exception of e-mail addresses, which will adopt the style firstname.familyname@greencarrier.com. The company’s new website address will be www.greencarrier.com. FCS Logistics was acquired by the Gothenburg-headquartered logistics specialist GreenCarrier International in June 2008 as part of its strategy to strengthen its position in the Nordic region. Founded in 1995, FCS offers international air and sea container transport services and as an IATA approved forwarder, the company has contracts with major airlines around the world. It also offers charter transport and on-board courier services.

The Damen Shipyards Group’s Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 2610 is proving to be every bit as effective in the oil and gas sector as it is in the offshore wind industry. The application of the renowned design in this arena is a response to a move in offshore O&G towards the high-intensity use of flexible, multi-purpose vessels wherever possible so as to minimise costs. As a twin-hulled vessel, the FCS 2610 combines high speed and stability with substantial deck space for equipment and components.

Hazira Port Breaches 500K TEU Mark

Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), India’s largest port developer today said that it had breached the 0.5 Million TEU mark at Hazira Port in FY 2017-18, with year-end throughout touching 500,879 TEUs, corresponding to a remarkable growth rate of 20.7% over 2016-17. With an annual capacity of 1 million TEUs, 2 berths of combined length of 630 metres and quay-side infrastructure comprising 6 QC’s and 16RTG’s, the all-weather port with a deep draft has been able to attract main line services from the world’s largest container shipping companies.

Pangaea Logistics Acquires Panamax Bulker

Pangaea Logistics Solutions, a global provider of comprehensive maritime logistics solutions, announced that it has signed a memorandum of agreement to acquire the 2006 Imabari-built panamax M/V Madeleine for $14.2M to enhance the company's bulk fleet. This new vessel is set to be renamed and will be fully utilized in the Noranda trade, supporting Pangaea's continuous transportation capabilities to Noranda Alumina and Noranda Bauxite on a long-term contractual basis. The acquisition adds to Pangaea's fleet of panamax, ultramax and supramax ships used for supply chain logistics and shipping.

Three Damen Twin Axe Fast Crew Suppliers En Route to MCS

Three more Damen Twin Axe Fast Crew Suppliers are on their way to Maritime Craft Services (Clyde) Ltd and are expected to arrive in Europe in early May. Based in Largs, Ayrshire, MCS ordered three Twin Axe FCS 2610s, just months after taking delivery of its first two catamarans. All of the vessels are deployed in supporting offshore wind farms and in maintenance activities. With more than 30 years experience, the Scottish family firm operates a 19-strong fleet of tugs and workboats internationally and already has several Damen vessels including Multi Cats and Shoalbusters.

Damen Shipyards Delivers Vessel to MC2

Damen Shipyards Group has delivered its first vessels to Marine Core & Charter LLC (MC2), a marine services company supporting the offshore energy sector in the Arabian Gulf. This is the first transaction between the two organisations and Damen is delighted to be setting out on what it hopes will be a productive and long-lasting relationship with MC2. The transaction is also a milestone as it represents the first deliveries of the Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 4008 class, Damen’s latest addition to its FCS range.

As an extension of its existing relationship with Netherlands-based Damen Shipyards, Louisiana-based shipbuilder Metal Shark has announced the availability of the new Damen FCS 7011 for the U.S. market. Developed by Damen in response to feedback from leaders in the offshore oil and gas sector, the FCS 7011 has been designed to reduce logistical cost and increase efficiencies in an era of low oil prices. The all-aluminum monohull FCS 7011 is a fast and comfortable crew supply solution for offshore production facilities.

Damen Shipyards Group has delivered a Damen Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 2610 workboat, named AOS SWIFT for the Atlantic Maritime Group on 20 August 2015. This is the first Damen Twin Axe vessel to be used in the Middle East for safe passenger and crew transfer as well as for the transport of industrial persons, materials and equipment to unmanned offshore platforms in the Strait of Hormuz. Within less than 3 months, and this includes the vessel’s transportation from Damen Shipyards Gorinchem, Damen has customised, commissioned and delivered the stock vessel.

In a celebratory atmosphere, marking the sustained growth of its fleet, SeaZip Offshore Services has taken delivery of two Damen Fast Crew Suppliers (FCS) 2610. Continuing the company’s vessel-naming trend, the new additions will be known as SeaZip 5 and SeaZip 6. The offshore service provider now has six Damen FCS 2610 vessels in its fleet. Fourth High-speed Support Vessel for Marineco

The Marineco Thunderbird is U.K.-based Marineco’s fourth FCS 2610 Twin Axe. Siemens will be deploying Thunderbird off the west coast of England, at the same latitude as Barrow, where it will be used to perform installation and maintenance work for Walney Offshore Windfarms. The vessel’s superstructure is spacious, offering sleeping accommodation (four two-person cabins) and making it possible for the crew to stay on-site for longer periods of time. The FCS 2008, a smaller version of the FCS 2610 with lower fuel consumption, will be introduced on the market in the summer of 2013.

Samskip Nor Lines' Service to Call Rotterdam

Samskip subsidiary Nor Lines will include calls at Rotterdam for the first time in its weekly multipurpose liner service connecting to Western, Mid and Northern Norway, with effect from June 1st. The service is provided by Nor Lines' state of the art, LNG-fuelled vessels MV Kvitnos and MV Kvitbjorn. These flexible ships will sail in 14-day loops, connecting Rotterdam and Eemshaven with Norwegian ports from Hammerfest in the far north, and taking in calls including Sandnes/Tananger, Bergen, Trondheim, Ålesund, Bodo and Tromso.

Marineco UK placed another order for two more Damen FCS 2610 Twin Axe vessels to serve its offshore wind activities, and Sure Wind, a British company specializing in the German market and new customer for Damen, has ordered two as well. Offshore Wind Services’ (OWS) latest Damen vessel – the Fast Crew Supplier 2008 Offshore Waddenzee - was officially named at Damen Oranjewerf Amsterdam, on August 22. The FCS 2008 is the second Damen vessel ordered this year by the Dutch company, which is a specialist in the provision of crew transfer vessels to the offshore wind industry. In January, OWS became the first company to order the next generation Damen Twin Axe Fast Crew Supplier 2610. This vessel is being built in Singapore for delivery later this year.

Damen Delivers Fast Crew Supplier to Sea Consult

Danish company Sea Consult ApS has taken delivery of its first Damen Twin Axe as the company prepares to enter the offshore wind market. Based in Marstal, Sea Consult is a new customer to Damen and this will be the first Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 2610 to be operated by a Danish company. The vessel already has work at Belgian and German offshore wind farms for the next year and the company’s new vessel is expected to be deployed in the next two weeks. According to Damen, the short delivery time was a major reason the Danish company decided to choose the Damen high-speed catamaran.

Naviera Integral Orders Damen Fast Crew Suppliers

Naviera Integral of Mexico is the launching customer of Damen’s new Sea Axe Fast Crew Supply vessel, the FCS 4008. President of Naviera Integral, Juan Pablo Vega, signed the order for the two new vessels at an official ceremony at the Offshore Energy Exhibition in Amsterdam. Naviera Integral’s two new vessels are due for delivery in 2016. A company in offshore transport and supply services with a fleet of 35 vessels, Naviera Integral has been a customer of Damen since the late nineties, operating more than 20 Damen vessels.

SOHAR Port Signs Contract with Dredging International

SOHAR Port and Freezone have signed an agreement with Dredging International NV – Earth Moving Worldwide LTD (DINV-EMW JV) for the development of Phase 1 of the SOHAR Port South Construction Package I. Totalling an investment of USD 24mn (approx. OMR 9.24mn), the agreement will see the development of the first 50 hectares of useable land within the new port expansion; which is expected to be fully completed by Q4 2018. The agreement was signed on April 18 at a ceremony held at SOHAR Port and Freezone head office in Sohar.

The first of two Damen Twin Axe Fast Crew Suppliers has officially been handed over to British company Sure Wind. A specialist in the German offshore wind market, Sure Wind already has work for the two newbuild FCS 2610 vessels. The first vessel Sure Star will head straight to Esbjerg and will then be deployed in the German market. A second sister vessel, Sure Swift will be delivered end-February. Established in 2009, Sure Wind now has 10 dedicated wind farm service and crew transfer vessels but this is the first time the company has ordered a Damen vessel.

OWS Orders Damen Vessel for Dutch Offshore Project

Dutch company Offshore Wind Services (OWS), specialists in the provision of crew transfer vessels to the offshore wind industry have ordered a Damen FCS 2008. This is the company’s second vessel ordered from Damen this year. Damen Shipyard Den Helder in the Netherlands will meet the specific requirements of the client. This includes outfitting the vessel with a second generator set and offshore crane. She will also be painted in the company’s colors. The vessel is to be named Offshore Waddenzee. The order is notable for the speed with which it is being handled.

Fast Crew Supplier for P&O Repasa

P&O Repasa, a new company formed last year by the acquisition of the majority of the shares in Spanish towage firm Repasa by P&O Maritime, has taken delivery of one Damen Fast Crew Supplier 5009. The vessel will be operated from Malabo on Bioko Island, Equatorial Guinea. The Red Eagle will ferry personnel and equipment, and supply drinking water and fuel, to offshore rigs and platforms. Two More Damen Twin Axe Catamarans for SeaZip

Damen Shipyards and SeaZip Offshore Service signed another contract for two Damen Fast Crew Suppliers (FCS) 2610 at Wind Energy in Hamburg. The two new vessels, to be named SeaZip 3 and SeaZip 4, will be mobilized in transporting personnel and small quantities of freight to North Sea offshore wind farms. The new orders follow the delivery last year of two FCS 2610 – named SeaZip 1 and SeaZip 2 – that have been performing successfully at the NordseeOst and DanTysk offshore wind farms in the German Bight.

New Navy Contracts

The General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems (GDAIS), Pittsfield, Mass., is being awarded a $52,253,352 modification (#P00013) under previously awarded contract (N00030-08-C-0041) for FY09-FY11 U.S. and U.K. TRIDENT II (D5) fire control system (FCS) and the U.S. SSGN attack weapon control system (AWCS) support. These efforts include: US/UK weapon control systems (WCS) and weapon control training system (WCTS) operational support, US/UK WCS operational support, US/UK WCS and navigation system repair and return (R&R), FCS software 344 (Mk 6 life extension (LE) development, US/UK Mk 98 Mod 8/9 FCS development, engineered refueling overhaul service, Mk 98 Mod 4, 5, 6 and 7 FCS updates, AWCS training unique, and strategic weapon system training unique.
