FCS Logistics Renamed GreenCarrier Finland
The IATA approved Finnish forwarding company Oy FCS Logistics Ltd has been renamed GreenCarrier Finland Oy, with effect from 23 February, 2009. All contact details will be unchanged with the exception of e-mail addresses, which will adopt the style email@example.com. The company’s new website address will be www.greencarrier.com. FCS Logistics was acquired by the Gothenburg-headquartered logistics specialist GreenCarrier International in June 2008 as part of its strategy to strengthen its position in the Nordic region. Founded in 1995, FCS offers international air and sea container transport services and as an IATA approved forwarder, the company has contracts with major airlines around the world. It also offers charter transport and on-board courier services.
Damen Presents ‘Gone With the Wind'
Marco Bovio, Senior Research Hydromechanics Engineer at Damen, presented details of internal research Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) based project ‘Gone With The Wind’ (GWTW). For the past two years Damen has been conducting a review of CFD technology and its applications in the maritime industry, and GWTW has been addressing one specific aspect of this. Its purpose, to look at the capability of CFD to accurately model the aerodynamic forces that act upon vessels above the waterline, as a separate analysis to those CFD studies that focus on the interactions that occur below the surface.

The application of the renowned design in this arena is a response to a move in offshore O&G towards the high-intensity use of flexible, multi-purpose vessels wherever possible so as to minimise costs. A.P. Moeller Strategizes Purchase of DSL's Assets
The transport unit of Danish oil and shipping group A.P. Moeller, Maersk Logistics, said on Thursday it planned to buy certain activities and assets of global logistics company Distribution Services Ltd (DSL). "The deal is not yet closed and the amount would be undisclosed," Maersk Logistics said. DSL, with headquarters in both the U.S. and Hong Kong, has 200 operating offices in 60 countries and 1,500 employees. Three Damen Twin Axe Fast Crew Suppliers En Route to MCS
Three more Damen Twin Axe Fast Crew Suppliers are on their way to Maritime Craft Services (Clyde) Ltd and are expected to arrive in Europe in early May. Based in Largs, Ayrshire, MCS ordered three Twin Axe FCS 2610s, just months after taking delivery of its first two catamarans. All of the vessels are deployed in supporting offshore wind farms and in maintenance activities. With more than 30 years experience, the Scottish family firm operates a 19-strong fleet of tugs and workboats internationally and already has several Damen vessels including Multi Cats and Shoalbusters.
First Damen Twin Axe Workboat for Middle East
Damen Shipyards Group has delivered a Damen Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 2610 workboat, named AOS SWIFT for the Atlantic Maritime Group on 20 August 2015. This is the first Damen Twin Axe vessel to be used in the Middle East for safe passenger and crew transfer as well as for the transport of industrial persons, materials and equipment to unmanned offshore platforms in the Strait of Hormuz. Within less than 3 months, and this includes the vessel’s transportation from Damen Shipyards Gorinchem, Damen has customised, commissioned and delivered the stock vessel.
SeaZip Continues Fleet Expansion
In a celebratory atmosphere, marking the sustained growth of its fleet, SeaZip Offshore Services has taken delivery of two Damen Fast Crew Suppliers (FCS) 2610. Fourth High-speed Support Vessel for Marineco
The Marineco Thunderbird is U.K.-based Marineco’s fourth FCS 2610 Twin Axe. Siemens will be deploying Thunderbird off the west coast of England, at the same latitude as Barrow, where it will be used to perform installation and maintenance work for Walney Offshore Windfarms. The vessel’s superstructure is spacious, offering sleeping accommodation (four two-person cabins) and making it possible for the crew to stay on-site for longer periods of time. The FCS 2008, a smaller version of the FCS 2610 with lower fuel consumption, will be introduced on the market in the summer of 2013.
Damen Delivers Fast Crew Supplier to Sea Consult
Danish company Sea Consult ApS has taken delivery of its first Damen Twin Axe as the company prepares to enter the offshore wind market. Based in Marstal, Sea Consult is a new customer to Damen and this will be the first Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 2610 to be operated by a Danish company. The vessel already has work at Belgian and German offshore wind farms for the next year and the company’s new vessel is expected to be deployed in the next two weeks. According to Damen, the short delivery time was a major reason the Danish company decided to choose the Damen high-speed catamaran.
Naviera Integral Orders Damen Fast Crew Suppliers
Naviera Integral of Mexico is the launching customer of Damen’s new Sea Axe Fast Crew Supply vessel, the FCS 4008. President of Naviera Integral, Juan Pablo Vega, signed the order for the two new vessels at an official ceremony at the Offshore Energy Exhibition in Amsterdam. Naviera Integral’s two new vessels are due for delivery in 2016. A company in offshore transport and supply services with a fleet of 35 vessels, Naviera Integral has been a customer of Damen since the late nineties, operating more than 20 Damen vessels.
OWS Christens Damen Fast Crew Supplier
Offshore Wind Services’ (OWS) latest Damen vessel – the Fast Crew Supplier 2008 Offshore Waddenzee - was officially named at Damen Oranjewerf Amsterdam, on August 22. The FCS 2008 is the second Damen vessel ordered this year by the Dutch company, which is a specialist in the provision of crew transfer vessels to the offshore wind industry. In January, OWS became the first company to order the next generation Damen Twin Axe Fast Crew Supplier 2610. This vessel is being built in Singapore for delivery later this year.

OWS Orders Damen Vessel for Dutch Offshore Project
Dutch company Offshore Wind Services (OWS), specialists in the provision of crew transfer vessels to the offshore wind industry have ordered a Damen FCS 2008. This is the company’s second vessel ordered from Damen this year. Damen Shipyard Den Helder in the Netherlands will meet the specific requirements of the client. This includes outfitting the vessel with a second generator set and offshore crane. She will also be painted in the company’s colors. The vessel is to be named Offshore Waddenzee. The order is notable for the speed with which it is being handled.
Damen Crew Supplier for Sure Wind
The first of two Damen Twin Axe Fast Crew Suppliers has officially been handed over to British company Sure Wind. A specialist in the German offshore wind market, Sure Wind already has work for the two newbuild FCS 2610 vessels. The first vessel Sure Star will head straight to Esbjerg and will then be deployed in the German market. A second sister vessel, Sure Swift will be delivered end-February. Established in 2009, Sure Wind now has 10 dedicated wind farm service and crew transfer vessels but this is the first time the company has ordered a Damen vessel.
Fast Crew Supplier for P&O Repasa
P&O Repasa, a new company formed last year by the acquisition of the majority of the shares in Spanish towage firm Repasa by P&O Maritime, has taken delivery of one Damen Fast Crew Supplier 5009. The vessel will be operated from Malabo on Bioko Island, Equatorial Guinea. The Red Eagle will ferry personnel and equipment, and supply drinking water and fuel, to offshore rigs and platforms. Two More Damen Twin Axe Catamarans for SeaZip
Damen Shipyards and SeaZip Offshore Service signed another contract for two Damen Fast Crew Suppliers (FCS) 2610 at Wind Energy in Hamburg. The two new vessels, to be named SeaZip 3 and SeaZip 4, will be mobilized in transporting personnel and small quantities of freight to North Sea offshore wind farms. The new orders follow the delivery last year of two FCS 2610 – named SeaZip 1 and SeaZip 2 – that have been performing successfully at the NordseeOst and DanTysk offshore wind farms in the German Bight.

Damen Patrol Vessel Deployed Offshore Nigeria
Homeland Integrated Offshore Services Limited (HIOSL) has taken delivery of a Damen FCS 3307 Patrol, to be deployed offshore Nigeria, in the next few weeks. Established in 2006, HIOSL serves the Nigerian oil and gas industry with a wide range of maritime, security and logistics services. The Lagos headquartered company has ambitious plans to become the leading marine logistics provider in the Nigerian offshore industry. The Damen FCS 3307 Patrol, to be named Guardian 1, has just undergone sea trials in the Netherlands and will soon set sail to Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

Veteran Maersk Leader, Omar Shamsie, becomes President of Maersk Line in North America.
