ONE Launches India-Europe Direct Service

Ocean Network Express (ONE)  announced the launch of a new direct service, the Indian Ocean Service 3 (IO3), which covers South East India, Mediterranean, and North Europe.The new product will offer new port coverage and boost reliability to a wider range of direct port call options to ONE’s valued customers, the Japanese container shipping company said in a press release.It will also further expand ONE’s already comprehensive service offerings and allow its clients to enjoy greater choice while bringing efficiency and additional values to the supply chain, the release added.The first sailing of the loop is now expected to start from…

Second Berth Opens at DP World London Gateway

Berth 2 now fully operational as five new services start up at DP World London Gateway

New shipping services are being announced as the second berth at DP World London Gateway opens for business. Britain’s newest port doubled its capacity as the second berth began operations in May. Five new shipping routes to North America, South America East Coast and West Coast, the Middle East and Europe are starting. New rail, road and container services are also announced. The G6, one of the world’s largest shipping alliances, will start a new service at DP World London Gateway on Friday, May 16.

New Containership Deployed

The German containership newbuild Cap Gabriel recently made its first visit to when it docked at the HHLA Container Terminal Burchardkai (CTB). The CAP GABRIEL is operated by the Hamburg Süd shipping company and, together with vessels of the Hapag-Lloyd shipping company’s tonnage, is being deployed in the Indian Ocean Service (IOS) linking Europe, the and the Indian subcontinent. The port rotation in the IOS service is: , Tilbury,, Gioia Tauro, Jebel Ali, , Mundra, Nhava Sheva (Mumbai), Gioia. The new service was created following the termination of the co-operative venture with CMA CGM in the Europe Consortium (EPIC) in May. The CMA CGM shipping line will continue as the sole operator of this service.

Stolt-Nielsen S.A. appointed Otto H. Fritzner as CEO of Stolt-Nielsen Transportation Group (SNTG). Fritzner most recently served as Managing Director, Ship Owning at SNTG. He succeeds James B. 930-TEU Ship Joins Indian Ocean Service

MacAndrews is set to add the 930 TEU Cape Bonavista to its Swahili Express Service which provides a fixed-day fortnightly service between the Indian sub-continent, the Middle East/Gulf and East Africa. Serving alongside CMA CGM Karibu, Cape Bonavista replaces Hanseduo in the service which calls at Karachi, Nhava Sheva, Jebel Ali, Dar es Salaam, Mombasa and Karachi with a 28-day round voyage time. With 80 reefer plugs, Cape Bonavista will support MacAndrews' increasing commitment to carrying fresh produce in refrigerated units. "Creating a homogenous vessel fleet for our Swahili Express service has been a priority. Cape Bonavista is a faster ship that will help us ensure schedule integrity on the service,” said Jim Robb, General Manager, Indian Trades.

MacAndrews Brings New Ship to Indian Ocean Service

MacAndrews has upgraded the existing tonnage on its Swahili Express Service, which provides a regular container service between the Indian sub-continent, the Middle East/Gulf and East Africa, with a more modern, faster vessel. The new ship, MacAndrews SWALA, is 1100 teu capacity and is one of two vessels in the service which has a nine-day sailing frequency and calls at Khor Fakkan, Karachi, Nhava Sheva, Jebel Ali, Dar es Salaam and Mombasa with a 28-day round voyage time. With 100 reefer plugs, the new vessel supports MacAndrews' increasing commitment to carrying fresh produce in refrigerated units. MacAndrews SWALA is flagged in Panama and was built in 1994. The ship has a deadweight of 15,170 tonnes, a nominal capacity of 1,107 teu (including 100 reefer plugs) and a speed of 18.5 knots.

The new ship, MacAndrews SWALA, is 1100 teu capacity and is one of two vessels in the service which has a nine-day sailing frequency and calls at Khor Fakkan, Karachi, Nhava Sheva, Jebel Ali, Dar es Salaam and Mombasa with a 28-day round voyage time. Salaam and 13 days to Mombasa. Northbound, from Mombasa the service offers a 8-day return transit to Karachi. MacAndrews SWALA is flagged in Panama and was built in 1994. The ship has a deadweight of 15,170 tonnes, a nominal capacity of 1,107 teu (including 100 reefer plugs) and a speed of 18.5 knots.
