NYK Group Celebrates Successful O3 Challenge

Symphony Creative Solutions (SCS) an NYK Group company, held a thank you party with Ocean Network Express (ONE) at ONE’s head office to celebrate a successful Ocean of Opportunities Challenge (O3 Challenge), a contest for startups that was conducted from April to June 2018.Partners including NUS Enterprise and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) were in attendance, and the solutions of the three O3 Challenge winners were introduced.The O3 Challenge, a worldwide contest aimed at creating new value through open innovation in the maritime industry, was planned and conducted by SCS and ONE, and jointly organized with NUS Enterprise, from April 2018.

Freightgate Announces SOLAS VGM Compliance Solution

Freightgate Inc announced an easy to use, integrated (SSO enabled) solution for International Shippers around the world to comply with the new IMO Requirement to certify VGM (Verified Gross Mass). The new solution includes a plug-in that let’s you connect directly from your NetSuite Cloud ERP to the Freightgate Logistics Cloud and record your VGM submissions to your carrier. "We are very excited to bring this timely solution to the market to enable our customers and the shipping public at large to comply with this new global VGM requirement” states Martin Hubert, President and CEO of Freightgate, Inc.. The new Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Convention requirements goes into effect on July 1, 2016.

Trojan Marinex Awarded for Fighting Invasive Species

Trojan Marinex has been named the winner of the 2016 Outstanding Private Sector Achievement award from the Reduce Risks from Invasive Species Coalition (RRISC). The award goes to a private sector company that has introduced a product or service that has the potential to make a significant contribution to reducing the environmental and economic risks posed by invasive species. The award – recognizing Trojan’s environmental stewardship and ballast water treatment technology – was presented on June 15, 2016 at the annual RRISC Congressional Reception in Washington, D.C.

Capital Campaign Launched for International Oceanic Station

SeaOrbiter, the first space station of the sea, is launching a crowd funding campaign on KissKissBankBank to finance the construction of the “Eye” of the vessel, to start in spring 2014. The Eye of the SeaOrbiter will be 18 meters (59 ft) high above the surface of the sea, with the overall vessel measuring 58 meters (190 ft). It will support the crow’s nest and the suite of communications systems that will allow the team to broadcast their adventures live. Life aboard, explorations, discoveries, and great scientific advancements will all be documented through the Eye’s technological prowess.
