COMSAT Bolsters Inmarsat Network

Satellite connectivity solutions provider COMSAT said it is extending the life of Inmarsat’s existing satellites through the leasing of an additional antenna at COMSAT’s Santa Paula, Calif. Teleport. The newly leased 12.8m antenna is transmitting and receiving in both C-band and L-band frequencies, bolstering capacity for the Tracking, Telemetry and Command (TT&C) and traffic operations of the Inmarsat satellite network. ABS Presents Guidance for Subsea Pipeline Routes

ABS, provider of classification and technical services to the offshore industry, has published the ABS Guidance Notes on Subsea Pipeline Route Determination. This document, the first of its kind for the offshore industry, presents a method for route determination that combines risk assessment techniques with Geographic Information System (GIS) technology. “ABS looks for opportunities to break new ground by developing safety guidance for the offshore sector,” said ABS Chairman, President and CEO Christopher J. Wiernicki. Methods for surveying, data collection and interpretation, data assessment, routing techniques and risk assessment are constantly evolving.

Rolls-Royce Gets Submarine Power Contract

This contract includes regeneration of the current Rolls-Royce submarine reactor core manufacturing facility in Derby. The Group will introduce the latest technology and manufacturing techniques to deliver increased efficiencies committed by the MoD and industry as part of the Strategic Defence and Security Review. Under this contract Rolls-Royce will continue to maintain and operate its existing reactor core manufacturing facility in Derby, UK.
