Tengizchevroil (TCO), Kazakhstan's liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) producer and exporter, plans to raise propane and butane export through Russian port Taman in 2018 to 450,000 tonnes from 240,000 tonnes in 2017, traders said. TCO's shipments of LPG through Taman port will grow in March to about 40,000 tonnes from 27,000 tonnes in February, traders said. "TCO's LPG export through Taman port will go up to 40,000 from 20,000 tonnes per month (on average in 2017), with further growth possible," said a source in the port. OTEKO, the owner of Taman transshipment terminal, declined to comment and there was no response from TCO. International oil trader Vitol is responsible for supplying TCO's LPG via Taman terminal.

Oil and related shipments from Georgia's Black Sea port of Batumi in January were down 34 percent from a year earlier, an official at the terminal, operated by Kazakh KazMunaiGas , said on Thursday. The official gave no reason for the fall, but state company KazMunaiGas continued to reroute some shipments to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline this year. January shipments of crude oil and refined oil products from Batumi totalled 108,464 million tonnes, down from 164,218 tonnes a year earlier and 221,210 tonnes in December, said the official, who asked not to be identified.

Offshore support vessel company Topaz Energy and Marine has been appointed the technical managers of three vessels by a consortium comprising Blue Water Shipping A/S and Kazmortransflot (KMTF), in connection with the TCO developed Tengiz oil field in Kazakhstan. Under the terms of the agreement, Topaz will act as the technical managers for three newly designed Module Carrying Vessels (MCVs). The vessels will commence work in Q2 2018 for a minimum contract period of a little over two years. The vessels will be transporting oil and gas modules to the Tengiz oil field from transshipment bases in Kazakhstan. The Tengiz oilfield is operated by Tengizchevroil LLP; a Kazakh partnership that explores, develops, produces and markets crude oil, LPG, dry gas and sulfur.

Topaz Energy and Marine said it has secured contracts in connection with the development of the Tengiz oilfield in Kazakhstan during 2016. The two contract wins announced in the second and third quarter together represent revenue of more than $500 million. The two contracts bring Topaz’s backlog to approximately $1.6 billion. Under the terms of the main contract awarded by Tengizchevroil (TCO) to a consortium comprising Topaz and Blue Water Shipping A/S, Topaz will commission the construction of 15 Module Carrying Vessels (MCVs). The vessels will be owned and operated by Topaz and will commence work in Q2 2018 for a minimum contract period of three years.

A Georgian court has taken control of the Black Sea oil terminal at Batumi after a legal case brought by shipping operators, a port official said on Monday. The terminal is still operating but since Saturday has been under the control of the court which is dictating certain conditions about contracts, which plaintiffs said had been often changed by the owner-operator, Kazakh state energy company KazMunaiGas . Reuters was unable to reach KazMunaiGas for comment. "Yes, the property has been seized ... The terminal is working with some minor disruptions, but there is a risk that shipments may decline due to the situation," Batumi terminal Deputy Director Georgy Kiladze told Reuters. "There is no force majeure ... The terminal continues its work," he added.

The Batumi terminal, operated by Kazakh state energy company KazMunaiGas , shipped 4.355 million tonnes of oil and oil products last year, down from 5.634 million tonnes in 2013. Shipments in December were 441,675 tonnes, down from 457,033 tonnes in December 2013, but up from 423,940 tonnes in November.

The Batumi terminal, operated by Kazakh state energy company KazMunaiGas , shipped 3.490 million tonnes of oil and oil products during the 10 months, down from 4.631 million tonnes in the same period of 2013. Shipments in October were 266,791 tonnes, down from 612,751 in October 2013 and from 403,435 in September this year.

A consortium developing Kazakhstan's huge Kashagan oilfield said on Monday it did not expect to produce oil in the offshore field this year due to leaking pipelines. "The current assessment, based on the results of an investigation, is that both the oil and the gas pipelines might have to be fully replaced," the consortium also said. The North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC) consortium includes Eni, Exxon Mobil, Royal Dutch Shell , China's CNPC, Japan's Inpex and Kazakh state-run KazMunaiGas.

Output at Kazakhstan's huge Kashagan oilfield may not start until 2016, the Financial Times said on Sunday, citing Kazakhstan's minister for economy and budget planning. Erbolat Dossayev told the FT he hoped production could be restarted late next year. "But if not, we will wait until 2016," the FT cited him as saying in an interview. Production at the offshore deposit, the world's biggest oil find in 35 years, started in September but was halted in early October after the detection of gas leaks in the $50 billion project's pipeline network. Earlier this month French major Total said no oil production was to be expected from Kashagan this year and it was not likely to yield much next year either.

Kazakhstan wants to forge ahead with developing new oil and gas fields in its sector of the Caspian Sea and hopes to wrap up a string of deals with foreign partners next year, a senior official said on Wednesday. The deals, primarily based on PSAs, mark a second stage of offshore development to follow major initial projects such as the giant Kashagan field, being developed by Italy's ENI-led consortium. The new projects should help boost Kazakhstan's offshore oil output to 89.2 million tons by 2015, from just 3 million tons last year, an official from KazMunaiGas said. It is said that Kazakhstan's proven offshore reserves of oil at 30 billion barrels and of gas at 3 trillion cubic metres. The largest new block, Darkhan, has an estimated 1.5 billion tons in oil reserves.
