Ukraine's Zelenskiy Urges Italy to Seize Yacht Believed to Belong to Putin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy urged Italy on Tuesday to seize a mystery yacht worth some $700 million that has been linked to Russian President Vladimir Putin.In an address to the Italian parliament, Zelenskiy said Putin and his wealthy backers often went to Italy on holiday and should have all their assets frozen to put pressure on them to end the invasion of Ukraine."Don't be a resort for murderers. Block all their real estate, accounts and yachts - from the Scheherazade to the smallest ones," he said, referring to a superyacht that is moored in the Italian port of Marina di Carrara.The sleek, six-deck vessel has two helicopter landing pads and can host up 18 guests and 40 crew.

Cargo Ship Refused Access to Paris MoU Region

General cargo ship M/V Georgiana H, IMO number 8911413, was detained in Marina di Carrara, Italy on July 17, tallying as the ship’s third detention in the Paris MoU region within the last 24 months. The ship flies the flag of Republic of Togo which is black on the current Paris MoU WGB list. The ship will be refused further access to any port and anchorages in the Paris MoU region, except a port of the ship's flag state. The refusal of access will become applicable immediately after the ship is authorized to leave this port and anchorage. As this is the first refusal of access order the period of the refusal of access will be three months. On March 3, general cargo ship M/V Andrey Osipov, IMO number 8711306, was detained in Brake/Bremerhaven, Germany.

Ciane Returns to Çiçek for Second Vessel

The Italian shipowner Ciane Spa has purchased a second double-hull bunker tanker from the Turkish shipbuilder Çiçek Shipyard. The vessel is due to be handed over to the Italians at the beginning of February and will start bunkering operations immediately. In May 2009, Çiçek delivered Chem Flower, the first of a series of four 3,100dwt IMO II chemical tankers it had had under construction for its associated shipowning company White Tulip Shipping, to Ciane. This vessel has since been operating successfully as Frecciamare out of Genoa and neighbouring ports including Savona…

The sixth year of Seatec, the international exhibition of technologies and subcontracting for boat and ship builders will have many new features. The exhibition is growing in terms of exhibiting space and both the number of exhibitors and visitors from the industry. In addition, this year Seatec will be opening its doors to a new important branch of the Italian nautical industry, which is port equipment.

Wärtsilä To Power Grimaldi Ferries

Contracted by Nuovi Cantieri Apuania SpA in Marina Di Carrara, Italy, another pair of luxury cruise ferries for the Italian-based Grimaldi group is to be powered by Wärtsilä NSD Corp. The vessels will house four Wartsila 16V46C main engines and four Wartsila 6R32LNE diesel generating sets. The main engines have a combined output of 67,200 kW at 500 rev/min., and the auxiliary engines 10,800 kW at 720 rev/min. Scheduled for delivery in May 2002 and May 2003, these twin-screw vessels each have a capacity for 2,800 passengers with 1,000 cars. With a service speed of 28 knots, they will be operated by Grandi Navi Veloci SpA, a member of the Grimaldi group, between the north of Italy and Sicily.
