Great Lakes Wins Dredging Contract for Port Arthur LNG Project

Houston-based dredging contractor Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation announced it has been awarded a dredging and disposal contract in support of the Port Arthur LNG Phase 1 project.Great Lakes has been contracted by Bechtel Energy, the engineering, construction, and procurement company that’s managing the project in partnership with Sempra Infrastructure. The Port Arthur LNG project is a natural gas liquefaction and export terminal in Southeast Texas with direct access to the Gulf of Mexico.

Cheniere Energy Ships 1,000th LNG Cargo

US-based liquefied natural gas (LNG) firm Cheniere Energy has produced and exported its 1,000th cargo of LNG.The Houston-based LNG exporter said in a press note that the 1000th cargo was exported within a four-year time period after startup, setting an industry record and making Cheniere the fastest producer in the world to reach this milestone.Cheniere has produced these 1,000 cargoes from both the Sabine Pass Liquefaction Project (SPL Project) and the Corpus Christi Liquefaction Project (CCL Project).“Reaching 1,000 cargoes of LNG faster than any producer in history is a testament to the performance of our people and the culture of our company.

Mozambique Awards Rovuma LNG Project Gig

Mozambique Rovuma Venture (MRV) has awarded an engineering, procurement, and construction contract to a consortium of Fluor, JGC, and TechnipFMC for its Mozambique Rovuma LNG Phase 1 project in Cabo Delgado, Mozambique.MRV, a joint-venture composed of Eni, ExxonMobil and CNPC, holds a 70% interest in the exploration and production concession of Area 4, with Galp, Kogas and Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH) each holding a 10% interest.The Rovuma LNG Project will produce, liquefy and market natural gas from three reservoirs of the Mamba complex located in the Area 4 block in the Offshore Rovuma Basin. Sabine Pass LNG Train 6 Under Construction

The liquefied natural gas company headquartered in Houston Cheniere Energy said that through Cheniere Partners, it is developing six natural gas liquefaction Trains at the Sabine Pass LNG (SPL) terminal adjacent to the existing regasification facilities.Trains 1 through 5 are operational and Train 6 is under construction, it said in a release.Cheniere is also developing three Trains near Corpus Christi, Texas (CCL Project). Port Arthur LNG Gets Permits

U.S. energy company and LNG operator Sempra Energy said that its Port Arthur LNG export terminal has moved one step closer to obtaining a federal permit.The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) released a positive environmental impact statement for the project on Thursday, clearing Port Arthur LNG for the next round of the review process.FERC report concluded the project “would result in some adverse environmental impacts, but these impacts would be reduced to less-than-significant levels.”In addition to the Port Arthur LNG project approval, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued the EIS for the Texas and Louisiana connector pipeline projects that will deliver natural gas to the new export facility…

Arctic LNG 2 Signs Agreement on GBS Construction

Russian natural gas producer Novatek's next LNG project, Arctic LNG 2, has signed an agreement on the design and construction of gravity-based structures (GBS).The Russian company SAREN, a joint venture of Renaissance Heavy Industries Russia (RHI Russia B.V.) and SAIPEM S.p.A, will perform the work. The agreement provides for the design and construction of three GBS platforms for the Project’s natural gas liquefaction trains. The scope of work under the contract includes management, design, supply of materials and equipment, construction of three GBS structures at the NOVATEK-Murmansk plant, as well as commissioning and preparation for operations, including towing and installation of the GBS structures.

Mammoet Bags LNG Project in Louisiana

Mammoet announces it has been awarded the heavy lift and heavy haul contract for the Cameron LNG project in Hackberry, Louisiana. The multi-billion dollar project will be comprised of three natural gas liquefaction trains with approved liquefied natural gas (LNG) export capacity of 1.7 billion cubic feet per day. “We are very happy to work on one of the most important LNG export projects on the Gulf Coast” said Robert Roest, Sales Director of Louisiana at Mammoet. “By contracting Mammoet as main supplier for the lifting and transport equipment, the project will save significant time due to central coordination that leads to optimization of all engineered heavy lifting and transport activities”.

Sempra Energy Plans Port Arthur LNG project

Sempra Energy’s subsidiary, Port Arthur LNG, has requested that the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) initiate the pre-filing review for the company’s proposed liquefaction and export facility in Port Arthur, Texas. The San Diego-based energy company has asked the federal government to start reviewing the plans for its proposed LNG project on a portion of the company’s existing 2,900 acres in Port Arthur. Sempra officials are in talks with local leaders, and all permits are expected to be in by spring 2015, but no groundbreaking date has been set. Sempra wants to build two natural gas liquefaction trains capable of producing 1.4B cf/day of LNG (10M tons/year)…
